Total after the big monthly shop is £48.90/£100, including some toiletries that I don't really need but were on offer (good!) but also a sandwich at work and a Graze box (bad!! but very tasty). (Also got home delivery via topcashback, so should eventually get some money off that as well!)
Meal planning has gone a bit crazy, though, so I think there's the basics for at least 24 days worth of main meals in my fridge and freezer
Just need to plan it around my late finishes around work and avoid falling into the reduced to clear section or the cake aisle too much. :rotfl:
Planning to motivate myself as well - anything left over from the £100 goes into a takeaway fund to treat myself with, hopefully that'll keep me on the wagon.Start mortgage date: August 2022; Start mortgage amount: £240,999; Original mortgage free date: August 2056

Only a small shop as I'm trying to use up all the pasta, couscous and beans I have in the cupboard.
I completely stuck to my list too, normally at least one item slips into the trolley.

Hello everyone,
Today, and the next five years(!!) will need to be nsds. My car will be about £460 to fix... I'll know exactly on Monday once it's been fully diagnosed and priced up. Beyond gutted, as I was just beginning to not live paycheck to paycheck.
Dinner tonight is pizza, as they're bb today. I'll cook two and freeze one for another time.
We're out for lunch tomorrow, arranged ages ago, to see a friend who's moving to America soon - no way I'm missing out on that. Then, the ch are with their dad from Monday to Friday am, so I can just eat from stocks. I'll need to buy milk and possibly bread, and I need marg as that's nearly run out, but not really anything else. Just need to be disciplined.
In fact, I think I'll spend some time looking through my stocks today to sort out what I'll eat next week. Spicy stuff, perhaps, as the ch aren't too keen!

A spend of £4.74 today on fruit and tomatoes. Although tomatoes are fruit aren't they so maybe just fruit?
Trying my best to keep a big chunk of the budget for supplies for a festival we're going to in a couple of weeks (snacks, convenience food and beers) so I'm using all the store cupboard stuff I can.

Food shop of £42.86 completed at Ald1 and £5.04 at TESC0's for the week on Monday so makes my current total £51.40 / £200
This should last us until around Tuesday next week. I made a huge vegetable lasagne and was so worried when I'd cooked it that I'd totally eff'ed it up and it would taste awful - luckily I just about saved it!Save 12K 2019 #37 - £3,512.97 / £6,000 (July)

Hi, I would love to join please.
I have spent far too much money on food in recent months. I sometimes spend over £600 on four of us. There is me, OH and two DC who are 4 and 2. We eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables and not much meat as I am a vegetarian and I tend to cook it around 3 times a week at the most which I suppose should save us money.
My downfall is definitely popping into the shop for 'one thing'. Its never one thing with me but I have been doing a little better this month. I actually started a budget for myself of £300 for the month of August (25th July- 25th August) but then my OH had to go away for a week and it messed it up a bit. Hes now home so the challenge continues!
So far this month we have spent £161.44 on two big shops at Lidl and a few top ups at one stop. I want to get to the stage where all shopping is done during one big shop once a week. We went shopping today so that will see us through to next Saturday. I will need to go to a bigger supermarket at some point in the week to stock up on Koko coconut milk which me and the DC drink but thats it.
We are already quite good at taking packed lunches and picnics. I have started to freeze bread to prevent the top up shops and me and OH have decided between us that we will always keep some easy to cook food in eg. frozen pizza or frozen hm curry which should hopfully mean no more takeaways ever. I am looking forward to reading through for more tips.
I will update next weekend. Nice to 'meet' you all!0 -
