  • Hi Shannon, thanks for popping by! :)

I haven’t thought of it that way before.. it’s definitely a new way to look at it!

In terms of buying new stuff I think I’m good, I should probably do a wardrobe clear out!!
  • No problem - I have subscribed to the thread so I look forward to reading more about your journey :-)

    Happy Wednesday!
  • I had a small victory yesterday. I really fancied a takeaway after playing football for an hour. Normal jem would have ordered a domino's for £15+, however, I went to Aldi and got a special pizza and a litre apple juice for a grand total of £2.58.. :D

My only spend today was £2.60 in Tesco. I got us a jam donut and a drink after a traumatic day at the hospital.

Tomorrow evening will be the real test. I have £30 to cover food and drinks for my birthday meal. Hoping I can stick with it!
  • I just realised that I have to stick to my budget as I left my credit card at home.. smart!

I’ve managed to find a voucher for dinner tonight and I get either: a free bottle of wine, a free bottle of prosecco or 6 free soft drinks (every little helps!)

Tonight makes me nervous because I have the money to spend as I’ve kept it on my card but I feel guilty to spend it :(
  • Last night I spent a grand total of.. £27.26! :j

I got: two for one cocktails, then had a cocktail brought for me. I also had a free bottle of prosecco with dinner (shared with 6 people), and then a glass of wine brought for me.

Dinner was also two courses for £10.95 (with a voucher found online) plus a £1.50 service charge as there were 15 of us! I also paid £5 for a taxi home.
  • When we get back from our holiday (going Sunday 5th - Friday November 10th) we have decided that we are going to give Aldi another try :D It's over the road from our flat so will save on petrol as we can just walk there and back.

We did a top up at aldi today (£23) which included 4 different meats to cover dinners!! (beef, chicken, gammon and steak) so I was impressed. Last time we went there my OH was not impressed with the quality, so we are gonna trial run it before holiday.

Pay day on Monday, so my spreadsheet is all ready to go!
  • I had letter from my CC over the weekend. They have increased my credit limit and surprisingly I'm not bothered about it at all.

I managed to get through the remaining part of the month without my CC this month. I have a grand total of £23.56 in my savings card and £55 in £1 coins. I have taken my main bank account to £0 (all of it is in savings, so much money!) and will start again when I get paid tomorrow. I don't have an overdraft, I've never used an overdraft before and when it was offered to me ages ago I declined having one.

I still need to cash out on prolific but I have decided to wait until I hit £20 to avoid any fees. I think I'm about 34p off once all my pending surveys go through.
  • I got a £50 gift voucher from my grandma for Next for my birthday. I knew two things I wanted which equals the gift card amount (as it's closer to Christmas all the things I would usually buy make it onto someone Christmas list..) and for some reason I can't find it in myself to press the checkout button! :rotfl:

I keep thinking, I could use my voucher to get a few gifts for Christmas but also keep thinking that the voucher was a gift for me :p I guess I could buy one thing i wanted and then use the rest of the voucher to get someone on my list a gift?!

What about this as a suggestion. Keep the voucher for yourself but save it until you desperately need to buy something, such as all your jeans have exploded or you need new clothes for work, and then use the voucher for that?

I used to feel the same way about getting vouchers as gifts. They were a gift for me, but I could use them to ease my financial burdens by selling them or getting people gifts with them. I now see them as a way for me to 'treat' myself in a controlled way.

Are you going to see Leicester in the Carabao cup draw? My team somehow made it through but I sincerely doubt they will progress from that round. :)

  • Hi Florence, thanks for popping by  long time no speak!

I will do that! I cleared out my wardrobe today and have a bag full of clothes that need a good home. I do only have two work trousers and could do with a third (I may see how I get on this week - one of the things I wanted to buy were work trousers with the voucher)

I got three different vouchers for my birthday, so I can hopefully spread them out and use them as treats for whats left of the year.

I will be going, depending on how much tickets cost. If the ticket costs more than £20 I won't be going to it, but I have pre-planned and worked it into my November pay budget.
