  • Hello! So, we survived the wedding :j we had a wonderful day, it's just a shame the trip (107 miles each way) knocked us both out a bit.

Good news.. I didn't have to spend my £20 at the wedding. I only had two soft drinks and my OH got them both for me.. Other news, the £20 I did have has gone on our weekly shopping but that's fine, we need to feed ourselves which is what we've done for the week :D

Back to money business, I have:
    - £10.72 in my prolific account
    - 86p in my topcash back :p (I'm rich!!) waiting for another £7.54 to be payable
    - approx. £50 in £1 coins (need to double check)
    - £63.60 on debit card
    - £17.99 in savings

Things I'm doing this week involving money are:
    - My birthday party on Friday night (should be approx £30)
    - Birthday coffee for my birthday on Wednesday.
    - Football matches on Tuesday & Saturday. This will just be me taking in a drink (buying one for £1 rather than the £2.20 in the football stadium!!!!)
  • Can someone make sure my light bulb is firmly switched on? It was starting to flicker.. :o

I started looking at Christmas presents online - 3 for 2, stocking fillers and so on and ended up looking at holidays so I gave myself a shake and told myself to close it down, look on prolific academic (there was a £1 survey for 5 minutes of my time :j and to come on here - so here I am!)

I'm back on my spreadsheet and have worked out that I can be debt free, by making what I would call a reasonable amount of payments, by the end of January.

I did buy more holiday at work (5 days for approx £74 per day) but I don't think I will need to take it (I have two days of normal holiday for Christmas and have 5 days off in November) so I'm seeing it as a savings pot and if I don't take the holiday I'll get all my money back in my January pay.

  • Thanks, Scott. Only 5 days until payday.

Prolific academic is keeping me going, a slow stream of surveys are coming in.
  • Today was a low spend day. We had a last minute lunch meet up. My friends all got expensive and nice coffees, lunch and cake but I just got a drink for £1.50 as I had my lunch waiting for me back at the office (small victories!)

My parents also dropped my birthday presents over today :D I also decided that for my birthday on Wednesday to cancel the coffee drink with my friend. I saw her today and I'll see her on Friday for my meal.. I think I'll save the £2.50+ I would have spent on coffee and go to the gym during my lunch hour instead (really living life!)

I've done 4 surveys on prolific today. Just waiting for £3.28 to turn from pending and I'll be up to £14.20! I think I've become obsessed with that website because I keep checking every few hours.
  • As we get to the end of the month there is not much to report but writing in here helps.

I'm working from home today so I counted up my £1's and can confirm that I have £55 :j I'm going to use this as part of my spending money for Prague. I'm exchanging £150. We get our breakfast included at the hotel and we should be able to walk everywhere as we are a short distance from the main parts so we only need 3 dinners as we get in late on Monday evening and leave early Friday. I'll probably push the boat out and buy a fridge magnet or postcard whilst I'm there!

I've also tracked all the social events I have coming up next month, and then allocated an amount I can take to each event. If I have some left over from the first event I can roll that into the second event and so on. Most of the events are late on in the month so I just need to remind myself the money is allocated and is not to be spent :o

  • Nothing wrong with taking the money once it reaches the £5 limit! I’m just waiting for some pending transactions to go through so I may as well wait until they do!

I have about £12 and £6 pending. I got a good survey last night which was worth £3 alone!
  • Birthday perks, I have received a few gift vouchers so I have these as part of my “treat” fund for next month.

I did spend some money in M&S buying biscuits and cakes for my work colleagues to enjoy today but I had the money on my debit card for that.

I’m going to cash out on prolific as well today, every little helps!
  • Hi!

Newish to the site but just read your thread. Enjoyed the read!

I don't know if this will help, but this way of thinking now makes me think twice before I buy things such as clothes/trainers. I only allow myself to buy something if I'm willing to sell or donate to charity something similar I have at home. Of course there isn't a 100% success rate, but if I see a nice pair of shoes I think, ok well which pair at home would I get rid of.

Also try and sell any things you have laying around the house that you simply don't need or use anymore!

    Have a good day :-)
