Came across a quote in my old diary -"Your house is a mirror that reflects what is going on in your life". So that's me stuffed.

I wouldn't worry too much, I was recently talking to a work colleague who's recovering from cancer and she said basically that life is too short to spend all her time cleaning instead of being out there doing the things she loves doing. I think I'm going to follow that school of philosophy as much as I can - I don't like mess but at the same time, it's really not the end of the world if the cleaning doesn't get done. My parents have been retired for nearly 10 years, and haven't made the most of it because my mum spends all her time cleaning imaginary dirt!

Hi guys, been AWOL for a while. not been feeling good mentally & physically. I think the stress of waiting for the house & general other life stuff got on top of me. We are still waiting on the seller to move out, but have given her an ultimatum of an exchange date of 10th Aug or we pull out.
This is the first day I've been feeling well all week, I lost my appetite a few days ago, which I rarely do, even when sick. I've been surviving on toast. I have managed to drag myself through work, even though my head was spinning by the end of my shifts, so no loss in pay.
Yesterday I had my first proper meal and today I managed a nice long walk (had to drop the car to the garage for MOT and walked the 3 miles home.)
Car did okay, exhaust back box had rusted thru so was replaced & I got the brake fluid changed as advised. £351 including the MOT cost and a full service. Better than the £600 last year.
I'll need a new tyre soon as it's getting worn, and will need a new battery at some point.
YOU If you don't like it, change it. Weight & Fitness. Put on quite a bit last week, thanks to a bbq & drinks. Lost most of it this week as I've been sick.

FRUGAL The Frugalwoods are having another Uber Frugal Month Challenge Not been doing too bad on the frugal challenge. I did need to buy some stuff today, succombed to a costa iced mocha, but apart from that it was all essentials or justified.
Duncan chewed my Kindle cover today, so I had to buy a new one, I do throw it in my bag and carry it everywhere with me, so it needs a cover. I dropped my phone and the screen shattered, it was completely unusable so I had to get it fixed.
I did treat myself to some perfume today. I only wear the one scent and I wear it daily, I ran out months ago & have been holding off getting a refill. I used my funds from my treat pot.

USE what you have. I haven't bought anything frivoulus at all (apart from my costa today and my perfume) everything has been essentials or justified.

LOOK after you. Took some time out to rest and get better, feeling good to go now.

UNLESS you have a specific reason you should avoid takeaways etc Had no takeaways, but had a few unplanned corner shop trips (paid for by bf) as I didn't fancy anything in the house so resorted to cheese toastys for tea.

YOU will aim for 16 NO Spend Days 13/20 Managed a nice run before I dropped my phone and shattered the screen and had to get it replaced. Had another nice run until today when MOT was due, so bought a few essentials while I was throwing the money around.

JOY Find 3 things to be grateful for at the end of each day.
    1) Feeling better today.
    2) Perfume!
    3) Reasonable MOT.

Hope everyone's had a good Thursday!

    1) NSD - achieved, so NSDs 13 / 16.

    2) Frugal food shopping: within budget last week, but OH spent almost the whole of this week's last night at L*dl, £32 / £35 so just about enough left for milk & bread till end of next Weds! Harder to menu plan from the things he bought but will try to meet the challenge! Dinner tonight was HM goats' cheese & beetroot puff pies, hot herby potato salad & spiced greens stir fry.

    3) Try to up my own income in some way (legally of course)! Achieved - another extra day of work tomorrow.

    4) My NST health goal: 10,000 steps a day (as total of 70,000 across a week)!
Today under target again at 7,552 as lots of desk work today. Last chance to meet the weekly target by tomorrow, total at 53,012 / 70,000.

    5) No FleaBay shopping for the whole month - achieved so 19 / 31 achieved, 1 breadbin shaped glitch!

    6) Frugal focus: sourcing instead of spending:
Remaining work in progress ... no progress today!

    Simple pleasures:
:) Unexpected catch up with family.
:) A quiet night with OH for a change.
:) Being able to use moisturiser rather than anthisan on my legs for a change!

Have a a good night all, PN x

Had another long walk yesterday and going for another today. Never mind the rain - it's only water. Did spend some money in Lidl on YS items but C spoiled my NSD buy sneaking some chocolate into the basket when I wasn't looking. I'll let him off with it since it's better and cheaper than drinking. I found an absolutely ancient packet of curry spice mix at the back of he cupboard. It's been there so long I can't even remember where we bought it but it's going to be used today to make a beef curry (beef from freezer) for dinner for three of us tomorrow. Will have to buy some chicken breasts for the boy today. Since coming off his medication he's gone off a lot of the things he used to eat and has lost masses of weight so I don't mind. It's much better for him.
This going to bed early is really paying off. We were up bright and early this morning at 5,30, feeling good and are just about ready to go out. Feeling much more positive. Hope we can keep it up.
    Have a good day everyone.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

Will catch up later. Thought I was tired yesterday, but it was a dormouse dozy, have another little nap tired. Today I'm weary down to my bones, neck hurting, hold on to the walls and furniture to get to the bathroom tired.

I have taken my morning pills and fished something out of my ear which looked like a tiny bit of tree - a forming berry or a bit of bark, tiny but obviously could be affecting my balance especially as there was a build up of wax stopping it going deeper into the ear.

Just sitting in bed writing a list (oddments that have accumulated). manage a few things last night - bag of cans and bottles recycling.rinsed, a couple of sinkfuls of plates and cutlery (they struggled to find 3, one each for them, so instructed me to buy more - think DS1 took some, had 12 each of spoons and knives but very few fork), a couple of handfuls of weeds from the garden, dirty sheet joined other items in the washing machine and set it off. Little bits that made a big difference.

I've just had an email from our visitors of last week, We had two UK holidays and a long foreign holiday booked with them. They have said that they feel they cannot see themselves coming on holiday with us in the foreseeable future, won't be coming on the UK holidays and have asked me to cancel all their hotel bookings for the other one (eight hotels). Whilst I cannot excuse C's behaviour in any way I am saddened, upset and disappointed that after all their years of friendship it has come to this. So I guess the only thing to do is put it behind me and move on. On the positive side I suppose I know where we stand now.

What a shame, well done you for looking so positive at events. Hope C manages to sort his problems out. Have a friend with similar problem, never realised how bad it was until I went to stay. Hugs to you for being so strong.

My spending isn't going too well. Got some food in yesterday, bday pressie for dd and pressies for guests gks, also needed petrol. Still no idea, how long they are staying.

Going to have to play catch up with my finances next month.

Not going to go shopping today, pop out for veg in the am.

Feeling very weepy last night and today, reckon spent too much time on my own this week. Plus upset DD2 hasn't bothered coming to see me or planned a coffee meet up. I have tried. Think she is down in dumps after returning from her travels, looking at her posting travel pic each day on fbook. Called to see other dd yesterday, had lunch there which was nice.

Sad to hear about Linkin Park's singer Chester Bennington as well, seen them once live and his voice was amazing. These famous people seem to have it all but really they are alone.

Trying to get more positive and upbeat for the weekend. If its not raining quick walk after work as only managed 8k steps yesterday. Sure I did more but doesn't seem to register pushing a shopping trolley grrr.

Off work Monday and Tuesday playing tourist guide, chef and head bottlewasher.

Apologies if don't pop on here.

Hugs to everyone feeling a bit flat, hope my whinying hasn't made you worse :rotfl:

Sorry I've been awol. So, for n the NSD front I'm at 8/14. Not great, but not bad either. We succumbed to the lure of takeaway last night because we finished work late so wasn't particularly frugal. Oops.

On the plus side, I'm well within the food shopping budget for this month so we might have some extra days to top up the very sad emergency fund come the end of the month! We don't need lots for shopping either - just fresh bits, so I'm pretty pleased with that.

I've had more training this week at work - complaints and training and I've also been been told I will start Quality Control soon. They keep putting me in to new extra things but I'm taking that as a sign they are pleased with my work.

I'm grateful for the weekend, and the extra money I will be earning this weekend doing more overtime. It's a bit of a nightmare but the extra cash will clear my credit card off fairly quickly which is good.
