Toilet Cleaner

I was wondering which toilet cleaner was the best to use ..
None of the rim based ones work for us - they only clean (slightly) directly underneath them - but miss the rest of the toilet - they are also expensive !!
Which brand of liquid cleaner is the preferred one ?

I always go for Harpic Power FLush

    http://www.harpic.co.uk/products/perfect-clean/harpic-power-plus-cleaners/

Using the toilet brush I push down a bit of bowl water, then spray under the rim and the bowl, give it a good scrubbing - then with the amount that has dripped down into the bowl, give that bit a good brushing, then leave it for a couple of hours, final scrub off and flush and its sparkling.

I find this really good at getting rid of everything, including any scale deposits.

We just use thick asda bleach; never scrub, or rub, and the toilets are spotless.

I'm in a hard water area so limescale build up is an issue, I've been using Lidl's W5 Max Power toilet cleaner (69p) for years and it seems to do the trick, I pop it down to the loo once a week (make sure it goes under the rim and around the bowl) - leave for a few minutes while I clean the sink and shower then give it a once over with the brush and flush. Keeps it sparkling.

    Toilet Cleaner Power by Sainsbury's.

It is good when used as a normal cleaner and also for tougher grime when left for a while before brushing and flushing. If you follow the "if it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down" motto, this will get rid of that crusty watermark you can get sometimes.

    Elbow grease.

I give ours a good scrubbing with a rough cleaning pad and some Jif type cleaner every time I think they need it.

Any inexpensive cleaner will do a good job.

My wife also occasionally pours bleach in them but I usually do the scrubbing.

I did also have to use a descaler until we fitted a water softener last year.

    Elbow grease.
For a second, I wondered why on earth you would be using a degreaser to clean toilets then I realised that you probably weren't talking about the cleaning product called "Elbow Grease". :rotfl:

Just plain bleach and a toilet brush. Never had limescale due to soft water area.

    How do you know I wasn't? :D

It does exist as I just found out on google.

    Elbow Grease.

But I was referring to elbow grease as in:

    elbow grease:

    noun informal:

hard physical work, especially vigorous polishing or cleaning.
