YL - Absolutely not
glad you had a good night out at the weekend :beer:xx
Please can I have kicks and big-girl-pants vibes. DH business has another non-payer. We average one a year, they really do my head in. The man has been downright rude on the emails, trying to make out DH did a sub-standard job (poppycock).
DH is stressed out of his head, I am trying to sort this whilst look after the kids (he's working away again) and to top it off someone was mightily rude to me at work today. I have just sat in the garden and sobbed. I feel really really alone today. Sorry, pathetic moment over! xMFW

(((Hugs))) atb: you are not alone with the Flyladies right behind you. I hope you can get your obnoxious non-payers to pay up quickly.
Well, today I have cleaned through the house (including the kitchen and DR windows), ordered the last fence panel, loaded DH's car with the remains of the old fence and some ancient garden chairs to take to the tip, prepared lunch, phoned to enquire why our gas supply pipe wasn't replaced when they said it would be (looks like the workmen omitted to visit the four houses in our close!), ended up with a visit from the emergency gas man because I happened to mention a whiff of gas in our front garden (where there are no supply pipes - he said it was most likely a leak lower down the hill, with the gas escaping into a cables duct and out via a manhole on our drive ), showered, and painted my nails. DH went to the tip, came home, sat down for an hour, ate lunch, went out to the U3A quiz group (I pushed him!), came home, slept for an hour, and is now hoovering round. I must cook our tea, steam mop the kitchen floor, and then go to a placement meeting this evening.0 -
Hello there! Can I join in please? I used to spend a lot of time reading the os board but then I had children and I basically forgot about the whole new site  not sure if it's me misremembering but the whole board seems a lot quieter than it did 3 years ago.
Anyway, I am on a mission to get my house ship shape (or at least not embarrassing when unexpected company arrive). Ideally I would like to get the whole place manageable by September as after then I'm back to work following maternity leave.
I've made a shocking start today as I did have big plans. All I managed today was a supermarket shop, and to clear out the larder cupboard. I had hopednto get more done this evening but ended up at a&e after my 3 yo burnt her wrist on a pan and now we're home I can be bothered with anything. Tomorrow is another day!0 -
((Hugs)) ATB. We're all rooting for you. X
Full day at work, but have managed to wipe around the kitchen. Windows not done here either...maybe tomorrow. Recycling out for the morning, and floor swept but not mopped. Another job to be added to tomorrow's list. I'm not required at work again in the morning, so no excuses. WM loaded ready to go on in the morning, DW running. DH seems to be rodding drains, so I'm keeping well out of the way
I'm still debating my MADness for the week. The front garden looks better for the efforts over the past couple of weeks, so I think I'll find something else. Don't worry, there's plenty of choice!:p. I'll have a think while I have a cuppa.0 -
Update from Dizzyland...
Kitchen *almost* acceptable. I even managed to cook an orange drizzle cake using a few elderly fruit, whilst tidying and cleaning. Shiny new (clean) enamel tin placed back into cupboard after it's first successful outing.
I didn't get to cleaning any windows as we have a set of patio doors in the kitchen area that are "frosted" with muddy paw prints to such an extent that I think I may need to get the pressure washer on them. That, or sandpaper...
I also renewed the house insurance, negotiated a brilliant new fixed rate deal on my B2L mortgage, saving around £225 a month and cooked a roasted chicken dinner.
ATB - sending "pay up or else" vibes to your cheeky customer. Honestly, the nerve some people have!
The 12 tonne digger has made short work of all the tree stumps in our garden and uprooted a huge walnut chunk, which may be worth selling. Apparently walnut is prized for gun stocks. Part of me is screaming no to this
Small has a school visit to the zoo tomorrow, which he is very excited about. I mainly feel sad at zoos, as it feels like we have trapped wild animals for our entertainment. I know some play an important role in preserving and extending breeding/bloodlines in endangered species, but I still hate seeing beautiful creatures like polar bears confined to a miniscule enclosure, when compared to their natural habitat.
Tree hugging over.
Sees y'all later x0 -
Thanks for that, Spiky. It wouldn't have been such an onerous task had we known beforehand - we do have photos, they were unsorted and the file names didn't help IYSWIM. For next year I will start with a photo folder for each child and drop pictures in through the year. But I will look at that link too. Chances are, though, if there's a cost attached, the answer will be no.
3rd washload in... DW run.
Oh, yes, I can imagine how many photos you had to sort through for a year when you hadn't known that you'd need them at short notice! You do have to pay for Tapestry - we sold it to the preschool directors on the basis that it was really good for parental involvement, and would save paper and ink money compared to our old paper Learning Journals - both true, but the money saving has been more noticeable
Got washing on the line, washing up done & lots of Level 1 done before work as DS1 gave DS2 a lift to school in his car & DS2 wanted to go in the car. Did everything except the table & chairs, & planned to do that when I got home from work.
Work, shopping, home, dinner, did the bins & cat litter tray, then went upstairs to put the clean sheets on my bed, but DS2 came and chatted to me and we ended up spending about 1 1/2 hours talking and laughing. Can't remember the last time he seemed so happy. So I didn't do the table & chairs, but think the time was better spent0 -

Oh no atb, if he is anything like my hubby the accusation of substandard work would upset him more than the non-payment. I think there should be more protection for small businesses from customers who dont pay. No real advice, the only time it happened to us sending a letter headed "notice of legal action" worked but in that case I think the customer was stalling for time. You sound a bit fraught at the minute though my love and you are so like me taking everything on your shoulders! Hugs x
Frodders I know its a bit simplistic but I do think that some people are able to cope better in life than others. I am a non-coper, almost had a meltdown yesterday because I am having problems with my contact lenses and the opticians werent being helpful. Most people would have shrugged it off but I started to feel really panicky.
Oh and I did clean my windows in the end yesterday, they were filthy and it made me feel better.
So today, list done for the menfolk who are at home, pie meat in slow cooker, general tidy around. Two lots of paid stuff today then gym class. Feeling quite chirpy but this is probably something to do with me having 8 days left at work before a week off ...0 -
Morning All,
I have woken up with no voice and a splitting headache, I think my body is trying to tell me to rest!
Thanks for all the support my lovely friends. You're quite right YL, the accusation of poor workmanship hurts the most. Yet, after I posted, said chap emailed to say DH had done a "superb" job. So f***** pay us! Fortunately I am au fait with the court process after having to go through it last year (with lovely Biscuit Monster's help) so if needs must we will do just that. Well done on cleaning your windows :j
Dizzy and Iona - sounds like you had mega productive days yesterday :T
Flying today will be limited to DW, WM and TD (it's throwing it down here). I am going to go back to bed later when kiddies are at school/pre-school and see if I can snooze off the headache.
I promise normal chirpy ATB service will resume soon, whinging doesn't help anything and you'll all be blocking my posts soon
Huge hugs all round xxMFW

Where is everyone?
Today I have
- made multiple teas and coffees
- downloaded reading material for college my course
- been to SW and decluttered a measly half pound
- wiped light switches
- written 2 long emails
- eaten breakfast made by DH and cooked sausage and egg bake for our lunch
Woke up far too early this morning so I am going to have some zzz now, otherwise I shall be too tired to drive safely this evening
Hope everyone is having a good day x0
