    Hi Hidden & Seaside :)

Thanks for the tips Hidden - 3 of them are under 10 & 1 is only a baby but 1 is a terrible teenager. Will have a nosy at Argos & Boots this evening. I can never decide what to get people & just give sisters money:p.

SS - the festival was good. I’m not a vegan but a friend is. The atmosphere was good & we had curry which was lovely but the vegan cake was a bit blah but it was still cake :D. There was a cookery demonstration & other talks and presentations. Then we headed to a pub & had wine:)... it’s made of grapes so we were still on the vegan agenda :).

I went for a run this morning in our local forest with pup, we often see deers in the distance before they hurry away. Well this morning this amazing stag was just sitting in the trees about 20 feet from the path. It didn’t budge and thankfully pup had the sense not to go near it. Really amazing start to the morning.

Money front - spent £16 at festival and pub which I thought was pretty good & then I gave my friend money for our hotel stay in November. Don’t mind paying money for nice things & not frittering.

Vegan festival sounded fun. Totally agree with you on spending on the nice things and not frittering!:)

    Morning

OH got a phonecall at 5.30 this morning to come to the hospital as is brother is deteriorating rapidly. I kept myself busy yesterday by tidying the house so I'm not sure what to do while I'm waiting for news.....:(. No point in going back to bed so I'm back in faithful diaryland :).

Yesterday was a tidy day and stocking up on essentials such as washing powder and dishwasher tablets...at least the house is sparkling. Being a sterotypical Catholic girl I lit candles in the chapel ...standing joke that no matter what exam/crisis you have a candle will help:)

Sister texted yesterday from England to ask if were ready for the storm. I asked if she had seen the meme on facebook which shows a hurricane over America and one over Ireland and the US states "US prepares by stocking up on canned goods, battoning down the hatches, taking to their cellars and praying'. Ireland's preparations, 'Bring in the Washing' :). There has been an announcement that all schools are closed today - I can see my nieces/nephews doing cartwheels when they wake up to that news.

Thanks Cumbria, I think we are all stunned with his illness as he did have cancer but it's not the cancer that has got him :(.

Keep safe as well...I think it could be a day in with tea :) and watching out at it. At least I know where the candles are.

I’m so sorry to hear the news of OH’s brother. Such a sad, difficult time.

Yes - good idea to stay in today Munchin. We’ve had strange eerie dark clouds this afternoon courtesy of the Spain/Portugal forest fires smoke and Ophelia fanning it this way.

    Morning

OH brother passed away Monday morning and the funeral is today. OH was able to be with him at the end but I don't think it will sink in for a long time that he is really gone.

Hurricane Ophelia came and went and left a mini trail of destruction in her path. I was in work yesterday morning and got the first train going to Belfast. It had loads of NI rail workers on my carriage who were there to clear the line just in case but we very slowly pootled into Belfast. Some of my colleagues didn't make it in but they sent in pics of trees lying across drives/yards and there was no way they were getting out. Thankfully apart from branches and leaves we got away without any issues.

PADDING - has taken a wee step to the side but once today is over then things will return to normal.
  • I’m so very sorry for your OH’s loss Munchin but it must have been comforting for his brother that OH was there with him at the end. I do hope that the funeral went as well as can be expected in the circumstances.

What a sad time and with all this weather havoc you have been experiencing as well. I hope you will be posting again soon.

Hi Seaside - thank you for your kind message. Bereavement is a bit pants to be honest.

Have been doing a wee pootle round the diaries while I'm waiting for OH to wake up. I have no money and spent extra these past few days as no one felt like cooking & I had to purchase a black dress which I hadn't really thought about as I had hoped up until Sat that a miracle would happen. Anyway that isn't important and I have money in my savings which I can tap into if need be. I have settled on May 2018 as my Debt free date and will continue to PAD towards that. Seriously would love to bring it forward but while I'm paying for therapy I really don't have much extra to spare.

Once I'm debt & therapy free I will have an extra £650 in my bank [STRIKE]to fritter[/STRIKE] to put towards a wee bit of fun & savings.

Xmas - Sister just texted to say her and family will be home for a weekend before Xmas and it will be brilliant to see them. I'm thinking the date clashes with something else but my brain isn't joining the dots yet.

No plans today - OH has things to do down at his brother's place and I will let him get on with it. I might use the opportunity to take pup for a run. He loves the forest but he hates the shower he has to have afterwards as he is usually muck to the ears. I have him in for the groomers tomorrow so that will be a wee expense but he needs a trim as he can't really see out of his fur/hair at moment :o. His hair doesn't seem to grow anywhere except over his face!!.

Ok time to take on the world:D
