Received an email from freesat. The number given does not cover my area. Got given maplins no. Same thing .
So I googled freesat engineers in my area ( aerial force)
They will be here today . Price is around £75 . I was quoted that already. . If ( hopefully not ) the engineer thinks othet work needs doing , it will be discussed before the initial job is done by him.
I'll give you update later.
Thanks0 -
£75!!
Ouch
I reckon if you had searched for Sky installers you may have found cheaper, maybe you just live in wealthy area.
That is a Rolls Royce price for a complete install so watch what they do and decide if it is enough.
Yep! Anything in the south is expensive . Just looked at the back of the box, and the wire is tight and one of the pins has no wire in it .
It will mean it will cost more
. I'll put it down to experience and move on . If it's too extortionate , the box is going back and freeview will be got instead 0 -
The 'pin' is the centre core of the cable easily remedied by cutting back the cable outer and refitting the plug. Unless its broken off in the tuner?0

Thankfully , it's not in the tuner . If I can get the man to fix the wire
back in , I'll get an extension for it

I doubt it would be that cheaper. Sky installers only get peanuts for doing jobs for Sky, if you have to pay for it privately then their rates tend to be higher.£75!!

The company used : tv aerial co.
To replace 1xquad / lmb? At something or other . Can't read writing .
Was quoted £367!! I of course refused .
Paid £200 by card . Quickest job I ever see. TBH I expected to pay around £150 .
Guarantee for a year .
Got job done on same day . Yes I got ripped off , but all part of life .
He did recommend getting a dream box from amazon , which effectively gives you free sky .
Please don't yell at me too much
I will send email to freesat and name this dodgy company . Might not do any good but it could deter others from using them0 -
I emailed freesat , letting them know that Aerial Force subcontracted out the job,to TVAerial company . The rest you know .
There are worse things in life .
I also sent a contact us email,to aerial force explaining my experience today explaining that the quote and the price I paid was too much .
Also mentioned that I didn't know the jobs get subcontracted out and the engineers on the website are not the one I had .0 -
You have been completely ripped off, you do not even know if the old LNB was faulty, yes wire was loose but no proof it was faulty.
The component cost under £12

I would ask your bank or credit card to do a chargeback and raise a dispute, a brand new complete job was £75 and that is what you were quoted.
Thanks for that .
This is why I paid by credit card. The guy seemed very hyper shall we say . I called the credit card company , and they were closed, so will call them this morning . When he quoted over £367.00 I knew something wasn't right . I've never had to raise a dispute before with a credit card co. Any idea how this works ?0 -
He agreed a price for a job and paid it. The price agreed was more expensive than some other people charge for the same job, but it's difficult to understand on what grounds the credit card company would make a charge back because their customer engaged the services of someone that is expensiveI would ask your bank or credit card to do a chargeback and raise a dispute, a brand new complete job was £75 and that is what you were quoted.
