Anyone else had really weird weather today. Started with pouring rain, then high winds and bright warm sun, then when I went to put something in the dustbin it snowed.

Maybe, like Charlie Brown, you have your own personal weather system overhead? Out to get you?

Was in Didcot yesterday, and had sun and fierce wind all day, then a smattering of predicted rain in the early evening, then sun again.

Out of interest will people be avoiding flying 737 Max 8 until we know why two have crashed?

We were getting on a plane just after we heard about the crash. We did comment that at least we were getting on an A380!

Do most people even know what type of plane they are getting onto?

I assume these two that crashed are newer types of 737s?

    Edit. Just googled....yes, since 2017.

They always tell you when you're on the plane, in theory you could get off before take off.

If you're that worried then I'm sure they'd tell you to avoid causing any delays.

I only knew we were definitely on a different plane because the A380 is a double decker, so you see two rows of windows.

OH knew we were on an A380 because he prefers them, so had looked out for it when booking.

Other than that we would only know if we have regularly flown the route, know that there are different types of airplane on that route and made a choice.
Once I flew home from Dublin and found it was a propeller plane; I wasn't impressed!

I thought this M8 type was newer than that.

I don't go on planes. I went on two tiny island hoppers in 1963 and I did a short business trip Bristol/Dublin in 1999. But that's it.

I'd not know/care what plane I was on. I'd assume "planes are safe else they wouldn't be going up in the sky"..... :)

In terms of the number of flights taken across the world, I'm sure that is true. If you are going to get on a plane that is the only logical way of thinking.

I am slightly freaking out that the flight we took a week ago was on an identical plane to the one that crashed.

It's partly a question of pilot training, if I understand correctly. The planes behave in an unexpected way if there's a fault, but they can be controlled safely if the pilots are aware of the issue and how to deal with it. They weren't, but I imagine that they now are.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
