Yes, I couldn't open the link either...... it says my iPad doesn't support it.
Where are the seals? Sounds like Scotland?
Naaaarfolk in this case, but they are also in Scotland, NE England & NW England. I think the ones in SW England are a different species and I'm not sure if Wales has any colonies or not..0 -

Well, if cod have regional accents depending on which part of the sea they are in, perhaps seals do too?
I wonder if the Norfolk seals' accents differ from the Geordie ones? :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

Sometimes you see somebody doing a job and you think "why?". Just because you "should" do that if you read a book, doesn't mean you should be doing it this time.
Adjoining me is a "late completion", so the garden's been left to last. Mr Turf Layer is there this morning, laying the pocket handkerchief of grass (actually, why, as they won't have room for a shed for a lawnmower! ... but that's another issue).
Having laid turf ... he's now watering it. Why?
The weather report says "it's going to pee down ... starting today ... for days" - and already, overhead, the skies are dark.
So why .... for the love of God .... is he bothering?0 -

Most of the colonies are Atlantic Greys which only come to land breeding, the rest of the time they are out at sea and could be anywhere so whether or not they have developed different accents I wouldn't know.
The rest are the smaller Harbour Seals, who probably have a different language to the Greys, let alone a different accent0 -

Presumably just in case the forecast is wrong, or the amount of rain is insufficient, etc. He'd look a bit daft if, having laid it, the grass all died for lack of water.
I've got a lot of newly planted perennial plants either bought as plants or grown from seed and, if we haven't had any rain on a given day (even if we had loads in the previous few days), I'm still watering them to give them the best chance of establishing so I don't have to fork out again to replace them.0 -

Even if rain is due, it might run off or not soak in deeply enough, and anyway, while you are waiting for the rain to come, the turf will be starting to dry out, especially if it is warm.
You might also see them watering it daily, even if there has been some rain.
Edit....crossed post with Chris while googling for info!(I just lurve spiders!)

I doubt that .... new dev landscapers ... I bet it's "plonk, water, run...."
Two of the trees they plonked the other day are already brown/look dead. They didn't even return to tend to those when they were still on site .... including not straightening the one they put in straight, that was then knocked off by 30 degrees by the wind that night... it's leaning like a good 'un ... and brown.
So if they're not checking/revisiting anything even when on site daily ... they won't pop back after they've dumped and run from today's work.
I could do a cr4p job ... I should start up a business where I just do cr4p jobs and run.0 -
We went near Blakeney in Naaarfolk. A place called Stiffkey, with an interesting Vicar. The sand was a bit hard to walk on, particularly barefoot, but a plus point is the free pedicure.

That link sent me into next door's garden!
Walking on sand is hard work. Aching ankles today?
That's an interesting point. We walked a similar distance on sand today with shoes on and felt absolutely fine. So, maybe we are used to the support our shoes give us and get tired barefoot? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
