They probably would - kevlar's what they use to make bullet-proof and stab-proof vests.
I imagine it'd still be like getting kicked in the nether regions by a large person wearing a pair of steel toed winklepicker styled foundryman's boots.
I'll give it a miss I think!

The trouble is .... I don't get on with people, because I have such an alien way of thinking and lifestyle to them that I simply "don't fit into" any groups of people, or with individuals. It's not a question of being able to have as much time alone as possible .... as managing to find anybody at all that I'd "gel" with and having anything at all in common to speak with people about. I just end up feeling isolated and excluded when in the company of others.

To "get on" with others I'd have to live a lie .... and make up answers, instead of telling the truth. I've "nothing to contribute" to conversations that anybody is willing to hear.

And ... I have no money for travelling :)

Who says you have to go on holiday? We don't go often.
I'm sick of paying through the nose to sleep in somebody else's uncomfortable bed, in a room that's almost invariably too hot without enough ventilation.
Driving any distance is no pleasure, and all the public transport options involve "the public"
I don't really much like the majority of the people I happen to meet, so I don't really need the opportunity to meet more of them.
If that makes me antisocial then so be it.
Fortunately neither myself or my OH have to go out and slave at a job we hate six days a week, we live in a place we like. We have what days out we want.
I don't feel the need for holidays.

    ... we ...

The main thing is I am not a "we" and so don't even bother with "days out" :)

I'd be happy with days out ... if I could clone myself to go with me.

There's definitely a market for singles holidays. Quite a lot I have seen centre around walking. These people, for instance.

When I have been out with the Ramblers, several people have mentioned them favourably.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'm with you on this, we do a week or so in Devon with my parents more so the kids feel they have had a holiday than any other reason, I would definitely sooner leave it than take it given the choice.

I sort of fancy the idea of driving a Winnebago around the US but not with the kids as then we would have to stop and do stuff all the time rather than just enjoy the view. Probably best in 5 years when they will be self driving.
    I think....

I'm not overkeen on "walking" - don't mind shuffling about staring at stuff for 10-12 miles, but I don't "look the part", having no waterproof shoes, coat or clothing in general that makes me "appear to be just like them".

And just look at the images on that website - they're not my sort. They are the sort who speak of things of which I have no knowledge/experience.... you can just tell they're speakers at the WI ... the sort of people who host dinner parties more often than I buy a bag of chips :)

And the prices are about £100/night, so 3 nights = about £300 mid winter. That is very expensive.

It's ... well ... all a bit posher than anything I've ever done, posher than anywhere I've been to, where they'll eat will be all fresh/organic/local produce and, well, posher than I understand. And meals aren't included so the group would expect everybody else to be wishing to eat in those sort of places every day ... and not enamoured of "the strange woman at the back who sat outside while we had lunch has just dipped into that chip shop"

I'd be isolated within such a group.

Companies set up and marketing to "solos" etc .... are really aimed at the wealthier/middle classes.

For £300 I could get a caravan for a week at the same location and eat chips.

I'd end up paying "over the odds" to have a miserable time among people who "excluded" me because I was different and had nothing in common with them.... I could find/book something myself in the same location for half the price without any of that upset.... but I'm not a walker in any case.

You might find that if you are happy to listen, people will be happy to do the talking!

No. Never seen the point of it. Happy to shuffle alongside others who are enjoying them if they're free... but certainly wouldn't ever pay to visit one as an activity.

It's difficult to give ideas without knowing what would interest you. What sort of thing would you enjoy doing or seeing or hearing about?
