It's difficult to give ideas without knowing what would interest you. What sort of thing would you enjoy doing or seeing or hearing about?

It's too complex for a forum discussion.

There are a couple of things I "quite fancy", but you can't just rock up and have a go ... there's all sorts of small barriers in the way, that I could navigate through .... but are location dependent in part, so best left until I've moved. Then I can discover/enquire of the local facilities there, rather than starting something here ... that might all end up a bit of a faffery.

The activity requires kit that I might not be able to manhandle on my own...

There are many activities that are best done as, say, a young/tall person, or a couple with one who is "able to do this stuff". The equipment goes on top of the car .... ah, right ... but there are inflatables... so then .... need to find out all about all sorts of things.

Now my mind is going into overdrive! :D

What might Pastures be thinking of doing that is complex? :D

Family bathroom - so I can't buy it? Only families can use this house?
    Where do single people wash?

"Family bathroom" is EA-speak for "bathroom that isn't an en-suite so anyone can use it whatever bedroom they sleep in". Can you suggest an alternative term for it?

PN likes making things. So it's probably something like metal working for creating jewellery, or something of that sort. Unlikely to be high energy outdoorsy sporty kind of thing. That's not her cup of tea, AFAIK.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Oooh! I know a bit about silver-smithing! I used to do that! I have made myself some nice pieces, even if they did take forever to do! (I was very slow, and it didn't help that I always decided to do something complicated! :D)

    General bathroom, perhaps?

    Or, main bathroom?

They used to be called bathrooms.
    :)
There's no need for the word "family".

They were called bathrooms in the days before ensuites were common. Now that they are common, there is a need for a word to specify "not ensuite" with regard to bathrooms, and "family" is the word that has come to be used for this purpose. I agree that "family" is not ideal for this, but I do think some kind of word or phrase is useful to make this distinction.

The house where I grew up had 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a family of six plus a single lodger (only there Mon-Fri) occupying it. Nobody had heard of ensuite facilities in private houses, so they were just bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, and all occupants of the house had equal access to both bathrooms. The house where I live now has 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms - one ensuite to the biggest bedroom, and the other for general use by all occupants of the house. If you just call them all "bathrooms" how do you distinguish between the two quite different arrangements made possible by "two bathrooms"?
Ah ...... it is outdoorsy :)
An easy water based activity for people who are idle ... not sporty. Except the kit bit, that's a bit active and faffy ...

Well, you surprised me there, PN. Hope you find a way to do it that suits your preferences and circumstances, PN.

    Easy water-based activity requiring kit..............

    Paddling!
    That requires welly-boots!

  What you're suggesting combines my pet hates of wobbling on a wobbly surface, and getting wet.

I never did master ice-skating, or even roller-skating. There's no way I could stand up on a wobbly board wobbling about on wobbly water. :(

Replying in a "nice" way to michaels's post on another "Debate" thread:

For the same price as a new build inc stamp duty and moving costs you can extend your existing property to have these and it will be much bigger and less overlooked and on a better street than said new build. Why waste a fortune on moving (for the same amount that it would cost us to move to a house identical to our current one we could add a large GF extension or a 2 bed loft extension) when you can pay the same and make your current house into your dream home.

For a moment there I read that as you wanting to "add a large girlfriend extension" and wondered what Mrs michaels would have to say about it, and whether it was a large extension for a girlfriend, or an extension for a large girlfriend... ;)
