My £40, 4 year old 10 inch windows tablet has stopped working
My dishwasher stopped working too - still can't complain, it cost me £25 as part of the house purchase and has served well for the last 2½ years.
I was, therefore, sourcing a replacement - went to the shop in my local town as I like to support local businesses if I can. Bought one at about 11:00 yesterday and it was delivered, installed and the old one taken away by 14:00 yesterday - now, that's what I call service.
I "could" have got an equivalent one for a cheaper ticket price from the likes of Currys but - they would have wanted between £45 and £75 for delivery (free if the best part of a week away, chargeable for any sooner), installation and removal of the old one, taking the total paid somewhat above what I paid all in and with a slower service !!!0 -
Whilst waiting for the dishwasher to arrive, I sourced and had a look through a downloadable manual and had a good laugh.
Apparently, you can control it using an app on your mobile phone - however, you can only do so using Near Field Communication, which means holding the phone against the front of the machine, and you can't do anything particularly more useful with it than you can using the normal controls.
Like I said to the guys when they arrived to install it, it would have been simpler to lay the machine buttons out like an app and have done with it - a classic example of a solution in search of a problem
I won't be bothering.0 -
I've been trying to o think of a case where one might want to use the app instead of the buttons on the machine.
If someone has a dexterity problem, I can't see that using the phone would be easier.........unless you can use voice activation?(I just lurve spiders!)

It certainly was nippy at 5 am! There was a lovely clear sky, that's why, I suppose.
I looked out of the window and there was Orion, right in front of me!(I just lurve spiders!)
