I'm not against kids, it's poor behaviour and rubbish parenting that intrudes upon my life... that's what gets my goat.
I bet that's what our neighbours thought. Lovely and tranquil. Then, we moved in.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
You might buy an isolated cottage on a barren hillside, then find there are delinquent goats. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I bet that's what our neighbours thought. Lovely and tranquil. Then, we moved in.
It's not just noise .... it's intrusion, squealing, constant screaming, fighting, arguing, footballs, arguments, chasing, trespass, stone throwing.... and a seemingly omnipresent mass of seething bodies all with skates, bikes, balls, etc.... and all "where they shouldn't be/shouldn't be playing at all" ... and nobody saying "No!".
Did you do all that?
Current Status: FunnyGirl left the area with her new best mate an hour ago... but now they're back ... and screaming... up to 2.5 hours starting now of them chasing around, squealing, running over the road in front of fast moving cars ... "just 2" today, "just 2.5 hours" today ... make that 8-12 for up to 8 hours ... and that's how it was last year.
EDIT: Right now FunnyGirl's on somebody's wall, looming above the chap's kitchen bay window if he's in that room. His wall... not hers... glad it's not mine. He needs to suffer though as last year he rented his house out and I got the two "omnipresent skaters" ... so "HA!"0 -
The latest plan is to get some kind of dog restraining thing by ordering it online, so I don't have to take New Dog with me to the shop to get it.
It arrived. It's not a great fit to the car - the sides of the car taper in too much so it won't go up to the ceiling - but it will do. It has extending bits to make it wider that I shall probably use when I get a bigger car, but don't need at the moment. I've fitted it and taken New Dog for a bit of a drive with it and she didn't make any attempt to get past it.
In this pic she is sitting rather awkwardly because she is very puzzled as to why I want her to stay sitting in the boot while I step a few paces away and take the photo.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

She needs a bath. She smells of kennel, IYSWIM. But she wasn't allowed one until today (a week after the operation) and I am going to wait until DD comes home tomorrow so there are two of us to do it. Thank you for reminding me I need to buy some dog shampoo. We used to have some for Avatar Dog that was specially for black dogs and claimed to make them super shiny. I don't think I kept it after he died, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Looking forward to hearing about your move, PN...
In other news, I see from the website that Little Dog has a new home, and so does the big dog, quite old, who was so sad to be in kennels that he just howled all the time we were there. I felt awful not being able to take him, but he had very long fur, and needed someone with plenty of time to groom him, which is not what I had in mind. So happy he has somewhere nice to go to be loved.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? This weekend is "end of the summer" really, with it being a Bank Holiday Weekend .... so what did we get?
First a lot of rain... and horrible weather.
Then a loooooong heatwave, too hot to do anything.
Then, it's been cold, overcast, damp/wet, windy, with a storm passing through.
So much for that endless summer the meteorologists told us we'd get. I'd love to do a job where you can simply "get it wrong" every day of your career and not be sacked!0 -
