None a day. I haven't actually smoked for 30 years, but I'm still "a smoker".
It'd only take a couple to get me going again!
I smoked from 1971 to 1981, was on about 20 a day, then OH and I both stopped. We were very lucky, neither of us had any difficulty giving up!
Then one day in 1984, I was having such a horrendous day at work that I asked a colleague for one of her cigs.
Well, I felt so ill afterwards that I nearly had to go home
I've definitely never fancied trying it again0 -

They talk about addictive personalities, but I've never had any bother with drink.
I really can just take it or leave it.0 -
They look nice!
If one or more is a piece of Scandinavian art glass, have a look and see if there is a signature on it. If there is, it might be worth researching the name.
Ok, it won't be worth a fortune, but even if it's worth £60 or £70, that's a great return on your £1!
If they are the sameish colour, they might look nice grouped together, rather than spread out all over the place. And on a window sill, they will catch the light and look lovely!
If one's a different colour, that can still go in the arrangement as 'the black sheep' one, you know the one that stands out and so draws the eye to the whole arrangement.
Talking of Scandinavian art glass, I once bought a rather nice, small, unusual, ceramic vase from a charity shop. There was a name on it, and I looked it up and it was a well-known art potter in Finland.
I had some Finnish friends at the time, and they immediately recognised the name, and said I'd done very well to buy it for whatever it was...... can't remember...... £2.50 or something.
Again, not a life-changer, (talking high tens), but rather nice to know!
It's currently in my glass cabinet of treasures.......... things ranging from that vase and a Victorian perfume bottle, through to a couple of Bakelite toys, through to a teddy bear I made myself aged 25 (:D), and finishing up at an amorphous 'thing' made at school by a sprog aged 8 that was supposed to be a pottery bowl.
We have a cone-shaped clay Viking, made by DS when he was in "Ist Year Juniors". He's now 33, and it's still on the end of the mantelpiece. If one of us needs to leave any sort of document, for example, for another family member, they know to look under the Viking
Lydia She sounds a very clever girland i'm so pleased the other two have new homes :T

Lovely!
My family had a small totem pole from when my parents lived in Canada when they were first married. It's a bit more than a foot high, and served a similar purpose. It's in Aged P's flat now. I still have a pottery pig with very wonky legs that I made in the last year of primary school. We were instructed to tap the feet of the pig gently on the table until they were all level and the pig stood up straight. I didn't hear the "gently" bit of the instructions, and so the legs are all bent.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

What a nice thing to bring back from Canada, and I love it that you still have your pig0 -
Our son-in-law has tried over and over again to give up smoking. He hasn't managed it yet.
Just encourage him to not giving up on giving up. I smoked for about 10 years and it took me about 30 attempts before it stuck.
The time it finally worked was when I had a terrible cold.:DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I initially spotted the sign "Everything £1" ... then looked at what they were flogging, it was random glasswares - and the vases drew my eye, even though they're not large enough for what I want, one of the criteria was "two identical, so I can put them on the windowsills either side of my patio doors"... so the two orange fitted that... and then it seemed a shame to leave the lonely green one, so offered them 50p to also take that off their hands.
They're quite heavy.
One of the others I bought is an inconsequential vase, but the final one is quite tall/large, so I'll have a go at googling that in a bit, once I've measured its height.
Trouble is, with owning anything "worth a few bob" is that you have to know the market to resell it, else you, too, end up at a car boot sale
Just measured the entirely different purple one, it's 40cm, and tapers. I'll google it. It's got a "shop sticker" on the bottom, so that won't be worth more than any other random nice looking vase. You might buy an isolated cottage on a barren hillside, then find there are delinquent goats.I think....0 -

First a lot of rain... and horrible weather.
Then a loooooong heatwave, too hot to do anything.
Then, it's been cold, overcast, damp/wet, windy, with a storm passing through.
So much for that endless summer the meteorologists told us we'd get. I'd love to do a job where you can simply "get it wrong" every day of your career and not be sacked!
Apart from a few days where the temps dipped down to pretty much normal for the time of year, we got the never ending summer here.
Been blistering hot here the last few days, fans going in all the rooms, doors wide open etc.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I love it that you still have your pig

They're plonked in a goldish bowl on the floor - for now... or they might stay there.0
