I think they use some form of talk text conversion and the results often bear no relevance to what is actually said. Not an actual example, but along the lines of "She was imprisoned for 20 Daves".
I do wonder if mum ends up with a very skewed idea of what's going on in the world and whether the system for the blind has similar foibles.
In fairness, my iPad has thrown up some more interesting combinations than that when I’m speaking to it, and even more still when I’m trying to type and the autocorrect is on.
I proofread everything before sending anyway on a laptop, however I have read some documents that haven’t either been bumped straight into Google translate or not read at all with either iPad or laptop speech recognition.
Just typing this I’ve had to make numerous corrections, hence the bottom of my sig !!!128522;💙💛 💔0 -
Lydia, as a scientist I hope you're picking a dog using a scientific graph.
:rotfl:
Who noticed the cat?I feel a bit sorry for the bulldog.
I feel sorry for most bulldogs. An awful lot of them can't breathe comfortably because their noses are so squashed. The fewer of them that are bred to suffer like that, the better, IMO.Of course he would be better off with a home with other dogs to help him learnYou can tell I've never owned a dog, can't you?
The NPT - where you learn all sorts of random things you never knew to wonder about!I hope you soon find just the right one for you
Thank you. I'll keep you all posted.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
According to the scientific chart our dog is better than a cat!
There are innumerable breeds of dogs that we should just let die out as pure breeds. Maybe able to contribute to crossbreeding instead, but don't know enough. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
This appeared in my FB newsfeed this morning.
Seriously? £495k to sit, exposed to the public walkway, while everybody stares at you while they meander past....

It's a caravan, right against the (low) boundary, where "everybody" walks past as it's flat and is the only route between the beach and the quay. A 20 year license.... and you have to pay exorbitant site fees (guessing £7-8k/year).
(Not even a great view really either - it's "just a bit of water", with that much money you could get much better views, over much nicer bits of water, not far away.)0 -

But but but.....it's got Bluetooth speakers!

Seriously, though, I wonder how much of a battering it'd get in the winter, not to mention wind-blown sand scouring all that nice glass.(I just lurve spiders!)

If you add the site fees up, for the 20 years .... and ignore the lost investment opportunity of the money and ignore any loan interest charged.... it's £32,750 (plus insurances, repairs, council tax probably too) .... PER YEAR. In terms of income, that is £43k/year of income, after tax, just handed over to sit and be stared at ...
More of this: Money
Than this: Sense
Some people "get all silly" about placenames ... and perceived value - but some are simply disproportionate.
Being "right at the front/on the beach" isn't any good if that bit of beach isn't actually glorious.... and it's not.
A few quid more, and "just a flat", this would give a better experience, location, access to a decent beach and more "local facilities" than that caravan.

Hmmm....... until that little bit of cliff starts slipping and sliding.
I wonder what the insurance would be like.
By the way, I never noticed the cat!

Oh, I'd love to live somewhere with a view like that! I probably wouldn't be so keen in stormy weather though. And DD1 already has the worry of her in-laws living by the sea but too far away to keep an eye on them as they get older. She'd be pretty upset if we moved away as well, bless her. Oh well, I can dream
I agree with you about the caravan, Pastures! Horrid to be right where everyone's walking past.0 -
Pastures, those caravans are similar to the kind of things on The Warren around here (Abersoch). 20 years at expensive land rental and then must be replaced. Various facilities on site that we'd never use anyway!
This one is possibly better value - at least it's Freehold.

Our daughter and family have rented it for this week. She's worried it won't be available to rent next year if it sells. Not a lot of rental stuff close to us, or not smallish ones for a family with 2 kids. Plenty if you want enough space for 2-5 families! With commensurate cost of course.
We spend a lot of time (been here since beginning of May, and for a couple of weeks earlier too) at our caravan. Mainly trying to get the snagging sorted out - we've had an unbelievable amount of problems. Someone coming to sort the windows on Tuesday we're told... Believe it when it happens! Will be so happy when we can finally sleep in the master bedroom. OH is camping in the second bedroom while I'm sleeping on setee in living room.
But we both love our new deck and the view is even better than from old caravan as we're about a foot higher so can see a bit further in places! :jView down the field and across to Snowdon by Maggie, on Flickr

We still need to get steps to back door sorted, and small deck to side to catch the evening sun. It's been too hectic to think about mostly, and now we're into the sailing weeks (not that I sail these days). Hopefully we can get plans together soon though, and ask the wonderful man who built our deck to come back and sort the steps for us. It's complicated as we have windows along the side that go really low, so I don't want to block off too much of the view of the patio as I'm loving watching the baby sparrows splashing in the bird bath! :j

I hope the steps etc can be sorted to your satisfaction, Maggie
Thank you for the lovely pics!
