Him sending the emails to you, breaches data protection even before GDPR came in and should be notified to some authority - can't remember which one.

It used to be the Data Protection Registrar, dunno what it's called now although it's almost certainly the same office under a new name.

That's a wrong call: he shouldn't have done it.
I'm not trying to suggest we should contact them and say "Oi! Take us off our list and tell everyone you know to do the same!" instead of doing the regulatory authority's work for them and reporting them first.

Very true, but to err is human........ he may just have inadvertently pressed the wrong button. We've all done that, (not specifically this, but ykwim), and it's been done to me on a couple of occasions, to my horror.

Telling him what he's done, so that he doesn't do it again, gives him the benefit of the doubt and would prevent him doing it again. After all, the action can't be undone, and he might have realised as soon as he'd done it, but what can you do then?

If he did it a second time, that would be different, and reporting him then would be justified.

Regarding sending the email in the first place, well, he might just be a proud dad, naively thinking that as he knew a load of people to ask, that might get his daughter lots of votes. Again, telling him that's not on might make him think twice another time.

    What Pyxis said.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Not so nice person here. :D
The bloke's taking liberties asking GDB to vote for his daughter.
Particularly as the request to have work done was never replied to.
    Yes, mistakes get made.
This sounds more like "don't care" to me though.
I wouldn't report him, but I'd email him saying
"Please remove me from your mailing list immediately"

If doing that, I'd at least add "in accordance with my right to be forgotten under GDPR".

However, incredible as it may seem given how long the BCC option has been well known, there are still some people who don't understand about it. Whether or not one cares about the bloke himself, to be a good citizen and care about all the other people on the mailing list, it would be best to explain that it is his unauthorised distribution of your email address that has prompted the request to be removed from the list.

I thought about the GDPR bit, then I thought "No"
The bloke doesn't give a damn I reckon.
I don't generally explain to people like that.
I probably should, but life's too short. :)

He's clearly a car mechanic, first and foremost, and he doesn't worry at all about data protection. It's not like he's registered, or anything like that. Even so, I shall not be reporting him.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

All this hot weather and I've not been out for four weeks, except 200-300 yard quick food shops.

It's so hot and you can't go out and be inside... so you have to stay home to be inside. I can't be randomly "out in the sun". In this type of sun I can manage 2-5 minutes before I "come over all queer and my head's burning" .... and the alternative is to pack up a huge pack of luggage and park myself in a small tent and look out ... but then I've no loo :)

Erect the tent in the back garden?

Pastures I find wearing a hat makes a huge difference to coping when out in hot sunny weather, as the sun's not beating down directly onto your head.
