Just had a vague thought and checked, I put a bet on Norway winning the Eurovision. On the recommendation of a NP. Any chance on that happening?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. So I checked back, a friendly NP with the warning that they don't want to encourage gambling reckoned Norway was a good bet at 50-1 as they were all unheard at that time.
I put £2 (last of the big spenders!) at 27-1 ( I was slow and missed the 50-1). Now Norway is 70-1. Doesn't look too good.
I also put £2 on Norway to finish in the top 5. I think that was the safety net to cover the first bet. I win £5.49 if that happens.
So it looks like:
Norway below 5th - £4 loss
Norway 2nd to 5th - £3.49 gain
Norway win - £57.49 gain.

Greetings. Just back from Portugal where we've been in the audience. Couldn't score tickets for the final though, so flew back today as demand from tomorrow is enormous.
There isn't a clear cut winner this year. Norway was 50-1, earlier this week had gone down to 3.5-1 and have slipped back down again as they didn't get a great final draw.
Nobody is calling this year's winner, it is just too hard to call. Israel is popular, so is Cyprus, either could win, but they also cancel each other out a bit. Ireland is third in the betting at the moment, but if that wins I'll eat my proverbial hat. It is soo boring.
The thing with Norway is the guy has won before. He should also score votes from the juries as well as the former USSR countries as his family are from Belarus. However all the countries that normally vote for each other (Belarus, Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan) have been knocked out this year. Russia may flounce off in a fit of pique and not even show the contest. Moldova is still in the contest with a Song worthy of a Carry On film.
I'm not convinced Norway will win, but still hopeful for an each way. 70-1 sounds too long though. Here are the current odds, but like I say, they've been all over the shop:

ETA... I wouldn't put a bet on today, too much uncertainty. Sorry silver, I was flying home when you asked, or would have said earlier.
ETA mark II... this blog is the one I follow on Eurovision, it has a good round up of all the songs

The Russian entry this year got knocked out in the semi final. The song wasn't bad, but it was really badly done. The singer was in a wheelchair, so they hid her in a volcano (as you do). Her vocals weren't great, and we could see a back up singer hidden behind the volcano singing a lot of the hard bits. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? If any of the NP are watching Eurovision tonight and have epilepsy, take care during the Hungarian entry, it has enough strobe effects to blow up the Portuguese national grid. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? On a completely different subject, I am feeling happy about this.
No idea how influential or otherwise this particular group are, but pleased they're doing what they can.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
