By the way, if you want a free TV, hang around at the dump for half an hour. Somebody will be disposing of a working one that's not the latest model.
Or on Freegle!(I just lurve spiders!)

Yes and they will probably be under the age of 30 arrive in a brand new car and the TV will be less than 6 months old especially if this is in early January.
Us oldies remember a time when things lasted so we don't change a telly unless it has stopped working.0 -
Well I am still not a very nice person however at least I now know why. It is called cyber bullying. I thought it was me. Coming from an abusive childhood like I had it is often more difficult to spot I find because childhood conditioning make you think that it is something you are doing wrong.
Anyway I made an interesting discovery. It appears to go to a pattern. I was telling someone else about my experience and they came up with one on a completely different subject but the pattern was the same. So now I know what to look for.
It goes something like this. You have an interest in a subject that you have studied and know quite a lot about. So lets say you have studied a lot on wingle wongle snakes. You join a discussion group on wingle wongle snakes and you post that you have seen a wingle wongle snake that is pink with orange spots. A couple of people might ask you why you thought it was a wingle wongle snake because they aren't usually that colour they are usually yellow with black stripes and while you are writing your answer a post comes in that tells you that you are mistaken. There are no wingle wongle snakes that are that colour and you have got it all wrong. They will then go on to tell you why you have got it wrong and there will be information in that answer about wingle wongle snakes that tells you that you are being told that you have got it all wrong by someone who doesn't really know much about the subject. In my case this was then followed by a stream of posts on the subject in question telling me that I had got it all wrong I don't know what I am talking about and that I should spend more time reading up about the subject and asking experts. If you then try to justify why you think it is a wingle wongle snake you are told that you are arguing and that that person is going to block you and report your posts.
In the case of the other person who was telling me about their situation the person who told them that they had got it all wrong went on to swear at them, typed using caps as if they were shouting and when that didn't work went on to demand that the moderator removed the person from the site.
When it is happening it is extremely unpleasant but after you have left the discussion group it is lovely and peaceful and you just feel sorry for the people who started the group because it has been hyjacked.0 -

You don't have to *be* a nice person to hang out on the NPT. You just have to behave nicely *on here* whatever you do in the rest of your life.It is called cyber bullying.
The NP won't stand for anyone getting cyberbullied on our thread. So you are safe in here.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

You are the Stig and I claim my £5.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Cakeguts..... not a very pleasant experience for you at all.
I can't say I have experienced cyber-bullying as such, but in my very early days on MSE, I made a jokey remark on a chat thread in the Arms which didn't mean anything and had no subtext, it was just a jokey remark, but someone took agin it, and implied I was being very rude, when I wasn't. I couldn't understand at all why it was taken as rude, but I apologised anyway and asked them more than once to explain what I had said that was rude, but they never did.
I was so upset, I logged off and didn't log back on again for about three weeks, and then only because someone was asking where I was.
(I still, to this day, don't understand why they thought I was being rude! )(I just lurve spiders!)

And intermittent faults are every serviceman's worst nightmare, as they never appear when required to.Most TVs have a separate lead, like the lead to your PC. Do you have a spare you could try?
If it's not the lead, then it's a problem with the TV, which probably has a label saying "No user-serviceable parts inside".
Sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere. Could be on the main circuit board. There's a thing about cooking them in the oven.
Apparently it works. Google it. (Really!)
I haven't tried it though.
You do have to be careful of charged capacitors in modern electronics kit though. Can be very dangerous. There'll be plenty about that if you look as well.0 -
As far as internet forums and being "nasty" goes, elsewhere than here I'll argue my point to a standstill, provided that I'm sure I'm right, or at least have a point!
However I try to never get personal, and I won't discuss anything further with people who do.0 -
I have just learnt how to do dictation on my android phone. I would have learnt a long time ago, but the microphone button was hidden on the keyboard. Previously, I refused to text, as the little tiny keyboard is impossible on these phones, but now there will be no stopping me!
The funny thing is that it picks up the words I say very accurately, but it transcribes punctuation completely literally. So, a comma comes out as "comma" rather than ",".No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

What I want to know is, is there any way to dictate text messages into an android phone so that they have punctuation in them? I quite often want to send messages of more than one sentence. Do any of the NP have any insight?Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
