Except of course you have an android phone so you do have one.
My phone is only used for taking photos as it's pocket sized... and limited in power. We didn't have leccy at the weekend, that cost £4/night extra.0 -
I think my telly's packing up. I "inherited" it and it is about 6½ years old.
In the last 2-3 weeks it's taken to randomly turning itself off.... if I wait (15-20 minutes) it'll reappear, but nothing I do makes it turn on (e.g. turning it on/off at the wall, or randomly pressing buttons on the remote)... I just have to be patient and wait and it'll suddenly resurrect itself.
It's been off about 10 minutes now...0 -

They are "things you blow"... but that's the limit of my knowledge.
The girl is playing an oboe.
It has a thinnish, reedy, plaintive sound.
It doesn't have a mouthpiece as such........ you insert a reed into the top and blow through that.
The boy is playing a bassoon. As its name implies, it has quite a bassy sound, but there are different types of bassoon and some are higher or lower.(I just lurve spiders!)

If you would briefly like to hear what they sound like:-
This is someone playing a bassoon........(with a piano accompaniment!)
If you don't want to listen to the whole thing, scroll through to nearer the end, as the camera pulls away and you get a better view of the finger work.
And this is someone playing an oboe.........

...
I don't have a built in speaker on my PC, I'd have to dig out and connect a pair of speakers (each larger than a 1Kg bag of sugar) and bring them downstairs from upstairs ... to do that, so I'll live without the experience
My telly is still choosing not to join me this morning. *sighs*.
I've got the telly on as "company" usually, as lone souls tend to do.0 -
Trying unplugging the TV for say half an hour or so. Not just switching on and off, try taking plug out of the wall. Then try retuning it.
Google the make and model number, found on the back, perhaps, and see how to retune. My TV needs retuning to newer channels from time to time or when they change the channel numbers .0 -

I did turn the socket off half an hour ago.
The telly runs through a freeview box, so I can press that button if the monitor springs to life.
It goes off when I'm watching it, so it's not as if I flick it on and nothing happens.... I'm watching it and "!!!!!!" it goes off for no reason at all... so doesn't sound like a retuning issue.... but I'll try that anyway once I get something on the screen.0 -
Interesting, I would have identified the obeo as a clarinet!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Interesting, I would have identified the obeo as a clarinet!
Me too, but when I Googled both they look very similar. The oboe doesn't seem to look as i remember oboes looking when I was at school!
I had a couple of bassoon lessons at school once (I'd wanted to learn the clarinet, but there wasn't a vacancy as they had no spare instruments - the clarinet was the most popular woodwind option). I didn't even manage to get a sound out of it until the second lesson, and then it made me dizzy having to blow so hard, so i didn't continue.0
