The other day I found some pics of people who'd used drills and the like as weird other household items, like whisks, fans and etc.

Heh! Just a thought! Have you checked the plug for a loose wire?

Otherwise, I wonder if it's overheating for some reason, and so cuts out as a safety feature. Can TVs do that?

Dunno, but I don't think that, as a reason, fits what's happening. Why'd it take 12 hours of sitting powered/unpowered randomly, then finally an hour while powered, before it decided to work?

Did you say that the red light suddenly came on?

Do you mean then that when it's 'dead' thre is no red or green light on? No light at all?

Then it must be the TV....either a loose connection or something in the TV is bust.

But, one last thing, to ensure it is the TV and not the remote that's faulty, have you tried turning on the TV at the TV itself, and not by the remote?



If it's not the remote, then I really do give up!

Most TVs have a separate lead, like the lead to your PC. Do you have a spare you could try?

If it's not the lead, then it's a problem with the TV, which probably has a label saying "No user-serviceable parts inside".

By the way, if you want a free TV, hang around at the dump for half an hour. Somebody will be disposing of a working one that's not the latest model.
