I am up and awake in theory.
My mother is currently in hospital; had a fall at home, lay on the floor for 2 hours till found. Nothing broken but they have so far diagnosed a urine infection plus another infection - they know what it is but not where it's coming from. She's 86. Just looks so frail and unlike herself in that hospital bed, but don't want her discharged till she is on the mend. She is coming to me for Christmas anyway so may be here early.0 -
That sounds worth it H. I like the sound of counting down. We will be doing the same here as there is only a year until we are mortgage free.
Leaving the rat race though.. that sounds wonderful. And if people envy you for doing that they need to bear in mind that a 70 hour working week is almost double a normal full time one.
Hjd, sounds scary for poor mum. I worry about mine and what I'd do if she had a fall. I do worry now she is on her own, but she would never leave her big house. I bet you will pamper her rotten, but wish her a speedy recovery. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Poor her! Poor you, too! Best wishes for a full recovery once the infection is treated. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Re. the credit card thing, I emailed again yesterday, and this morning I go two emails.
The first was badly written and said this......
(Deleted)
It did not answer my other queries about the password thing, my not having an order number, or whether my purchase was being processed.
The second email, from the same person, said they were doing my order, and when it is despatched they will send me a tracking number.
So still no order number.
I shall wait and see.
All very strange.
And who writes "wanna" in a business letter?(I just lurve spiders!)

I was in the bathroom, washing things in the bath .... and I heard something outside.... it was 2 of the kids from the new houses skating in my front garden.... grrr
Trouble is, I couldn't go out and give it "oi, my garden....by the way Santa doesn't exist" as they were there, then gone....
It's the "kids from the new bit".... I already despise everything about them and begrudge them the air they breathe.0 -

It's a good sign, though, that they weren't there long, so maybe they just made a mistake?
Obviously, if it happens again, saying something to them might help.
How old were they, do you think?(I just lurve spiders!)

It's all that modern "open plan" stuff. The path where people have a right of way goes up to my border... after that the path continues and is 100% "private/mine" along the front of my house and round the corner. These open plan designs don't give clues as to ownership/rules - and renters have no idea as they never see the deeds/covenants/planning permissions/restrictions .... and the owners mostly don't read it/don't understand it.
One neighbour who put a 15" fence round part of his border (2-3' in front of his front/living room window) then had the omnipresent-brats STILL running past his window/looking in/leaning on the window sill ... but this time jumping over/running over his fence, that was very quickly broken. He gave up after that, it's still wonky/half down.
The houses front onto the road, behind a wall that separates the houses from the public path/road. Once you step a foot off the public path you're into "all private land, individually owned by specific houses" with a right to pass/repass to get to/from the houses, but not for any other purposes. There are even restrictions/covenants on the types of vehicle allowed to park, that even the freeholder should adhere to (but that's their business if it's not annoying somebody else). When you see the coloured plan you can see where all the boundaries are for the specific houses.
The whole lot is "not a public space, not a shared space, not leasehold spaces with a management company". If you want to visit me you walk along the path, enjoying your RoW to walk along that path to reach my house (crossing the freehold land of 3 neighbours as you step along it) .... and for the last 30' you are wholly on "my land with no RoW". The RoW along the path is not marked (I do plan to do something at some point, but haven't seen anything appropriate that'll do the job yet) ... I need a pot either side, each of which has my house number on it .... and a nifty discrete "private" sign just for good measure.
Kids playing is "... not allowed under the deeds/covenants/restrictions ...." I didn't MAKE the rules, but I did buy based on them existing as it's "my land/nobody can tell me different" and "it's clear/no nonsense"... but when you're right you can often end up looking like the one in the wrong... just for pointing it out.0 -
Where the path becomes wholly your property, could you put up a little picket fence and gate, as a demarcation?
With your house number on the gate?(I just lurve spiders!)
