I'm about half way through it now...

Finished it. Looked out for Aged P in the background, but he wasn't there. I did recognise one person, though - when the children go to the dining room to give out invitations, there's a lady who sings with them, and I know her. She's friends with Aged P's next door neighbour, so we met her first when she and another friend happened to be visiting the neighbour when we were in Aged P's flat measuring up, and we've bumped into her a couple of times since, in the corridors, or walking her dog in the garden etc. She's one of the ones with plenty of get up and go - organising groups to do interesting things and so on - and is very friendly and welcoming, like everyone we've met there, actually.

Aged P says it still feels strange to be living with such a large number of old people, and especially so many old ladies. The male/female ratio is about what you would expect considering differences in male and female life expectancy.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Not that he's mentioned. Although he hasn't watched the programme, so even if he did meet Hamish, he wouldn't know he was famous. He knows David. At least, there's a "David the retired geologist" that he already knew before he moved in, and was happy to find on the list of residents. So as long as that's the same "David the retired geologist" who was on the programme, then he knows him. They used to work at the same university.

I've met Mary. She invited me into her flat - very friendly - and gave me a meringue, and one to take back for Aged P. She has DVDs of the programme, but nothing to watch them on, so I have suggested to Aged P that he should invite her round to watch them on his laptop with him. He's amenable, but AFAIK hasn't got round to it yet. His flat is still rather full of boxes of books for inviting people in. Apparently he should be able to donate some of the books he hasn't got space for to the library there. Not that they'll be able to take them all, I shouldn't think. He has eclectic taste in books, and over a lifetime has amassed several thousand.

As it happens, the programme about the mansion has quite a lot to say about isolation tending to lead to low mood and feelings of pointlessness etc. Isolation is tough, even for amazing people like you who seem to cope so well with stuff that the rest of us can barely imagine.

If only your part of Outer Herts wasn't so far away. :( I'd love to meet up with you (or any other NP over on the West side of Outer Herts, for that matter). Are your boys going to be home for Christmas?

Picked Josh up last Friday, Joe is coming home hopefully Thursday and James will trundle down after work on Saturday.

Weirdly, I am finding it difficult having my new one man band routine messed up! :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

  • Morning all.... I see we've already got an early morning NP or two about. It is way too early for sensible people to be awake though. :)

That is a brilliant emoji Pyxis!

What are you doing up so early H?

I occasionally wake up before six as DH goes to work very early to avoid traffic on M25, plus working for an airline his hours are more unusual. But waking up is very different to getting up.... I am currently typing on my bedside tablet as opposed to downstairs main tablet.

The bed is particularly comfortable this morning so I won't be getting up until I'm hungry. No work today... yipee!

    Work.

Prepping for a 'far too early' morning call with a 'far too keen' newbie director that needs updating on all the carp I'll be handing over to him in a couple of months when I finally escape the madhouse.

I hate shiny happy early morning people being all chirpy at ungodly hours of the day. Fortunately it's not a video call so he'll be unable to see my disdain peering out from behind the double espresso.

But as I'm counting down the weeks until Freedom Day, and he's new, I'll forgive such transgressions for now.... :)
