Thanks for the encouragement, Pyxis.
My dad had dark brown hair - nearly black - but a reddish brown beard. When he grew it (in the 1960s) he stopped wearing ties with any red in the pattern because they clashed, and then he got them all back out and started wearing them again in the late 1980s once the beard had gone grey.
Have now had the dye rinsed out and am waiting to go downstairs for the cut. Haven't yet seen the colour. My eyebrows are still brown, my beard's gone thoroughly pepper and salt - but my hair's simply gone
Mind you, I blame Vidal Sasson and Proctor & Gamble for that because it was one of their shampoos I tried - I washed, the hair went :rotfl:
And why not? Doesn't have to be permanent either!(I just lurve spiders!)

Bleurgh, I'd rather wear a rug than that - it's still look silly but at least it'd keep my head warm0

The first thing I thought of was.... who is she going to roll up in it?
Am interested to know what competition you did, in order to win a rug!
It is lovely winning stuff, though, even if it isn't stuff you'd normally go for!
Years ago, I won something in a competition run by Woman's Own magazine. Can't remember what it was, now! It was such a lovely surprise!
It was a share and comment thing for a local flooring shop on Facebook (I only do the local businesses to avoid the scammers).
For the local shops, it's a relatively cheap way of advertising and for the residents it makes them happy to win things and to be supporting a local business. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Ooh Silver, I don't do mine! I have a lady who comes to the house! I used to dye my own hair, but I can't do highlights! Or dipped edges!
I meant I didn't even have the patience to sit in the hairdressers for hours!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I used to have my hair done in foils, cost about £35 or so (2000-2007), more often it's the cap where they torture you pulling it through.
Since I moved here I've tried to have it done, but they all seem to want £70 and the couple of times I did have it done (2012-2013) it simply wasn't the same difference/blond that it'd been in the past ... and it "just disappeared" in weeks, whereas when I used to have it done it lasted months/forever.
At £70 I stopped bothering. I've found a college that'll do it, about 30 miles away, for about £30 or so ...which I keep meaning to investigate/book with, but they insist on a "patch test" before they do it, so I just end up thinking "not this week then...." as it means two visits the first time.0 -
When it's all done, a pic elsewhere would be superlicious!
Maybe. There's not much to see. I asked for subtle and natural looking, and that's what she's done. There are significantly fewer grey ones showing, and other than that it looks much as before. Nobody seems to have noticed or commented so far.
Edit... I got distracted earlier and never finished posting a dancing smiley about Doug Jones beating Roy Moore. :dance:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Here's an interesting tale for the family tree experts.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-42256465
Robin was 13 when he found out he was adopted. Later he was told he had been abandoned - left in a box on London's Oxford Street. Now 74, he has spent most of his life wondering who left him and why. But thanks to DNA, and the dogged detective work of one of his daughters, he finally has some answers. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
GDB I've just been reading that myself! Fascinating! I'm so glad he found his family :T
Lydia People will be thinking your hair looks nice and wondering if you've "done something to it" or not, but not liking to ask0
