That's one heck of a story - amazing that they managed to dig down deep enough to actually find living full relatives !!
The hardest bit is the modern stuff...

You have the 1911 Census, then you can pick up the 1939 Register.

But that's your lot. You can get snippets here and there from newspapers, or probate records online ... but it's all very hit and miss. Sometimes, rarely, you get an online published tree, which might be verified or guesswork.

With one from Scotland and one from Canada, crossing borders then means you need to understand/access records from "furren places".

But, to find living people, you don't need to find them all - just ONE. The one alive will be able to fill in a lot of gaps. Some alive might also agree to a DNA test to help triangulate the line ... if you pay for it.

But there are tricky bits .... and times when you have to leave ends open .... or fork out £££s for actual certificates.

Lots of people, lots of record sets, lots of certificates....

But, when you know you're onto something you're driven. They had a match!

But - you can't discount an affair randomly dropped in that's undocumented.

There are many barriers, obstacles and dead ends.

    Glad they got there!

I've been using Register of Electors as a surrogate for other records. Norfolk has a really great collection via Family Search. I was gutted to find that equally detailed collections aren't available for other counties.

The records for my Norfolk family over that period have annual residency checks, which is really handy. Hopefully more counties will do similar for their archives. Only goes up to 1915 though.

Anyway, my last AmDram outing of the year, a Christmas Special, went down a storm tonight.

Will have a lazy day tomorrow, to recharge.

Ferrari fans are known as The Tifosi.

Therefore I would guess that vivatifosi is not necessarily a fan of a one-time popular family car made by Vauxhall ;)

100% correct. Forza Ferrari was too obvious and I'd watched the San Marino GP not long before joining. The crowd were jubilant with a Schumi win and shouting "Forza Ferrari" and "viva Schumi" "viva, viva... TIFOSI", hence the user name was born.

I only wanted something relatively random to ask an anonymous question about council tax. I never dreamt that I'd be here 11 years later. I would have put a bit more effort into it otherwise.

Thought so - although, to be brutally honest, I can't think why anyone would be a fan of the Vauxhall Viva, let alone admit to it :rotfl:

    I like it!

Of course, there might also somewhere be a South American revolutionary called Tifosi! :D

The Vauxhall Viva never occurred to me! :D
Apparently there were over 1.5 million produced, so some people must have liked them!
They're old enough to be classic cars, now!

Then, of course, there's always this

My 3 wheeler had the front wheels from a Vauxhall Viva (a spare one on the back and the 4th idk where), as they were the only ones that would fit when it was built

You are Delboy, and I claim my £5!

Actually, I well remember seeing loads of three-wheel cars in my yoof.

    And bubblecars. Remember bubblecars?
