Spot the cheapskate. Dinner tonight was a free subway from the app plus free fries from the kfc app.
    I think....

I like my electric screwdriver. I know exactly where it is.
Sadly, I have no idea where its charger is, so I can't use it until I either find the charger or make the effort to work out what sort of charger it needs and see if I have something compatible.

I have overdone things with my dad's move. My own home is in chaos - DS and DD have done more tidying than I hoped for, but I am still desperately behind with washing etc. I need to get Helpful Builder in to sort out some problems, but need to get the chaos under control first. And I am back to feeling blank and numb and too mentally tired to take any interest in anything, as I was in the depths of my burnout. I am trying to take things easy and hope I can recover the progress I'd previously been making.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

I would say, Lydia, that priority no. 1 is a good rest, otherwise you'll be no good to man or beast.

Have a couple of days off from everything.

If there aren't many clean clothes, it won't hurt for once, and everything else can just wait.

I would pop round and bring you breakfast in bed, but I suspect that would be too much of a surprise. As Pyxis says, a bit of rest and recuperation is more important than getting all the chores done.

There was a lot of hidden emotional overtime when you're doing what you were doing - and that hits you physically but silently. You can account for a banged elbow or a graze on your leg, but inner emotional bruises, seeing old memories sorted and resorted and saying "goodbye" to spaces/memories can knock the stuffing out of you.

There's no rush to sort your own house out ... just don't let anybody round/in for a few weeks :)

I have a Synology NAS and it's great, however it's not money saving. Hard drives don't last for ever, I would expect more money needs to be spend after five years.

They would also be destroyed in a fire, so if you have things that you want to survive no matter what, then it's cheaper and safer to upload them to the internet.

That was brilliantly put, Pastures. :)

Plus, I expect Lydia's been on overdrive keeping the Aged P's emotions from bubbling over, too, plus dealing with slow decision-making, decision-changing, etc., however understandable.

It's like when you're walking with someone whose natural gait is a lot slower than yours. The distance walked is the same, but it's much more tiring going at a slower pace.

    Breakfast in bed! :)
Ah, the stuff of distant dreams! :D

Are you for hire, GDB? :rotfl:

By the way, are G, D and B your initials, or does it stand for something cryptic? (No need to say if it would compromise your privacy, natch!)

(((HUGS))) Lydia - I think helping your DF with such a big move would be physically and emotionally exhausting without having to go to work into the bargain. I echo what others have said, you need to be your own top priority for a little while.
It's great that the children have been tidying, and I know they'll be busy with homework etc, but could they perhaps do an occasional load of their own washing? (I realise they may do that already.)
