Removals men have decided to take the van to the flat and unload what they've got in the van so far. Apparently it is approaching its maximum allowed weight despite not being full. They say this is because most of the boxes are full of books.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I feel very guilty about how disturbing our kids (and my DW) are to our neighbours. And doubly so because we have a baseball hoop on our drive out front which results in lots of doofing, screaming/shouting and occasionally the ball going into our neighbours front gardens on both sides....

I do that with the dogs, worry - one bark and they come inside. And when I go out I bungee cord all but one rooms' door handles together so they can't go in and bark in the living room and annoy next door, who are very tolerant people.

We could move next to each other michaels, you could have your hoop and I could have my dogs and neither of us could complain about the other!
When I built my bed I made a note of how/where to start and blu tacked that inside the bed frame.... along with the assembly instructions.

    Good Idea.

Or you could have a ring binder titled "The House" and keep all that sort of info in that.

When I moved from my previous house, I left a notebook with all The Quirky Little Things One Should Know About The House explained. The incomers were very grateful! :)

And another great idea, there is always something that only you know about the house.

It's the 340th anniversary of the date when my possible ancestor's shop was entered by troops who carried away all the linens and contents to pay a fine that'd been imposed on The Elder for not going to Church.

They did that back then.... if you didn't go (because you'd changed religions) they fined you ....

He was fined £1. £1 was a lot of money in 1677! It was in Gloucester.

It was possibly members of the family of "the other tree I wasn't stalking" who picked on my ancestor. :) they were all a bit church-based.

There was something about that in the last episode of Gunpowder that was on the other day. Gatesby I think, was having things sequestered for similar reasons.

Something to do with that surprised me. I was watching the last episode of Gogglebox, and the first episode of Gunpowder was shown. They were watching the scene where two people come to a grisly end. What surprised me was that the people watching hadn't realised that such things had gone on. (I won't describe it, in case some people haven't seen it yet).

I remember when I went to the York dungeon many years ago, and along with all the tortures etc. I did know about, there were a few more I hadn't known, and they were utterly horrific. "The Angel" for example. I won't describe it........ if you want to know, you'll have to google it.

The things that humans can do to each other. :(:(:(

    I didn't watch it.

This ancestor, according to "quite an official site and listing/lineage" says that these chaps were my ancestors.... and the one who was fined had his head chopped off 9 years later.

As I haven't actually seen the documentary evidence I AM their descendant I'm still wary of the information I've received. I've no actual sight of the connection, just that there is an official list of "Descendants of somebody most people have never heard of" ... and he's in it and I'm at the bottom.

I do notice, however, that the official list has been re-written ... to look closer to "being correct"... but I don't know who wrote the list, but it'd be "somebody this official site really trusts with the information/sources".

Is 'the Angel' worse than 'the busker playing my way on the accordion for 4 hours' outside your office window where the council has refused to allow double glazing?
    I think....

Bloke at the top of my tree turns out to be a Rev. Hadn't looked higher up than the bloke who lost his head before as it "seemed pointless/fruitless" to even look.

Found another tree with more details of somebody else in the tree... and down that lot there are a couple of "Sirs". Looks like my lot chose the wrong church and went on the run to become peasants! Others chose the right options .... married well ... and got to be titled.

They also managed to squeeze King Edward I into their tree. Jammy 4rse lickers :)

I have heard of people writing the dimensions of a room and the number of rolls of wallpaper required on the wall - NO, NOT under the wallpaper, but under a light switch or plug socket.

You could indeed - but a wall is rather harder to lose or otherwise mislay ;)
