I saw a piece on the bbc website I wanted to show my DKs but can't find it now. It was about young women who now felt they had let popular boys take advantage of them when they were at school, thinking that the attention was a compliment when innfact it was just targetting the unconfident and once th boys had acheived their objective they then dropped the girls.
Seperate topic, it i getting quite dark by 6 these days amd the hour changes next weekendI think....0 -

If you put '#MeToo' into the search bar on the bbc website, there are 2 videos available on iplayer with that hashtag. Not sure if by "piece" you meant article or video.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Nowt wrong with that, it means Spring's on its way - eventually
Unfortunately it also means Christmas is approaching so all the shops have started kitting out to entice the spenders already. :mad:0 -

Bit embarrassing you could find it just from my description but I couldn't via either the bbc search or google....I think....0 -
Thanks Chris and SC, it was this second link and then the follow up first link I was after.
Bit embarrassing you could find it just from my description but I couldn't via either the bbc search or google....
You're welcome.
Just to ensure your complete embarrassment, I didn't use either the (useless) BBC search or Google/Yahoo/Bing/whatever - I just went to the BBC News site's Family & Education page, where both articles are currently hidden in plain view just over halfway down the page:p:p

First shift done, wasn't too bad but I exhausted myself through nervous energy and stressing about it.
Think I might be coming down with something, feel like death warmed up tonight and I have that horrible, eeky feeling in my chest which normally heralds a developing chest infection. Too soon to be connected with going to work today, I probably picked up some kind of bug on the trains back from Lincoln, they were packed as packed could be and with a fair few coughing and spluttering.
Thankfully, I have until next weekend to recover (unless they call me in, in the meantime)We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Oh dear. Sorry to hear that.
But in the meantime, how did your first shift at work go?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
It went ok, it's quite straight forward but does carry a fair amount of responsibility which was one of the things which was giving me the wobbles.
There was a couple of occasions where things happened which hadn't been covered in the interview meeting but I didn't panic (well not much) and just got on the phone to ask what to do next, the instructions of what to do next was pretty much what my instinct had been but thought it best to check.
It's a good thing I kept my maths skills honed (thanks to Joe), most def needed in this line of work to make sure everything tallies at all points of the day.
I might suggest they have written procedures though for any other new starters, an idiots step by step guide would certainly have taken some of the stress out of today if they had had them for me to go by....or that could just be the old corporate me talking again (I had to go through BS5750 quality training where an essential part was written procedures, a pain at the time but we quickly realised how handy they were). We made it! Well done on getting through the first day.
Writing an idiot’s guide to starting a job is a great idea, and I did it in a previous job where I realised it was a great omission. It was just things like- how to deal with parking, where to store your registers, etc.
God alone knows what computer format I would have written it in or what floppy disc/ computer it’s stored on (it could have been in Windows 3/MS Works format).
Lost to all, but outdated anyway so not much missed! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
