I've seen one of those chairs on the telly in the last week - I think it was an antiques programme where they had to buy stuff in France, bring it back, smarten it up and then flog it in a day in Oxford (?). She had grand ideas of repainting it, but abandoned that and just cleaned it.

I'll google, see if I can get the programme name and a link so you can see what she got/thought/did and why she changed her mind.

EDIT: I can't find it. I was only half watching; I remember the bare details of what went on... and trying to look for it I get 000s of results of the chairs for sale :)

It might be this series: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/french-collection/episode-guide/series-1

It might be this episode: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/french-collection/on-demand/62948-024

I might be wrong though, it might be Sarah Moore I'm remembering, she did something with one here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08jm74q
But that's not available on iPlayer so maybe not.

    What's the concert, Nikkster?

I'm going to see DJ Shadow, who made one of my all time favourite albums (Endtroducing)
Have had the tickets since March!

Tracks from the album are often used in the background of documentaries so even if you don't know it you've probably heard some of them :)

PostImages is back up. Have posted pic of laundry basket. :)

Pyxis, I went back and edited my post at the bottom of the previous page. There's now a link to a Lloyd Loom chair that should NOT have been repainted!

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Re. the 'elsewhere' one, I see what you mean. :(

That's a useful design, because you can put things on it, while still gaining access to inside.
Both of mine have lift-up lids, which can be a pain.

    Edit....
    Ooooh look!!

12 original colours here! And one is a sort of ecru!

And I think this is the firm that makes the Lloyd loom paint, so they should be able to advise you on primers, undercoat, etc.

I quite agree. Mine have lift-up lids, and are always getting things put on them. I have them on the landing, and people put things on them that ought to be taken downstairs, except that whoever it is who's putting them there isn't going downstairs just yet. The problem is that I'm the only one that ever picks anything up off them and actually takes it downstairs. The other two occupants of my house seem to believe there are "taking stuff downstairs" fairies or something.

My grandparents had a couple of Lloyd Loom chairs in green (artichoke I expect from that colour sampler). I can't believe they still exist.

Yup. I've got a green bedroom chair, too, with a lift up seat with storage! :D
