I neede to go on an overnight ferry journey once, across the Channel, and so I loaded my system up with ginger extract capsules, starting the day before and kept taking them throughout the journey, subject to the instructions.
I was absolutely fine, ate a three course dinner, and breakfast next morning, while all around me people were looking awful.
I was very surprised, as I'm usually dreadful on boats.(I just lurve spiders!)

Taking this morning off, going for a 2pm start, to finish before 8pm so I can realign my working pattern with current sleep pattern, to switch back to earlies next week. Written a few emails already and going into the town soon to get breakfast.
Hope everyone's well this morning💙💛 💔0 -

I remember as a child being car sick on the way to the seaside etc - and I suspect that'll have been because I was encouraged to read/play with toys etc instead of "sitting still and just looking out of the window"... which, when you say it like that, would appear to be boring if all you'd get is mile after mile after mile after mile of flat fields and green hedges.
I never have either, but I can't look down when in a car either.
There just seems to be something makes me queasy about it
The train is fine however, I've used many a Eurostar journey to get emails etc written in the past.💙💛 💔0 -
Bradford Forster Square. Catches a lot of people out.PasturesNew wrote: »I've never had/tried any travel sickness tablets as I rarely travel. I've always been "the one driving" and trains have tended to be very rare events, so I look out of the window.

I always had to sit in the front, so I could see the view ahead rather than the speeding view out the side window, with the window open to get a fresh breeze on my face, which didn't please the bods in the back much!
Sometimes they had to put me in the back, but they did so at their peril.(I just lurve spiders!)

I could never understand why I felt sick on coaches but not on buses. I was always fine on trains, but not in cars.
I'm so glad I grew out of it! The last time I had problems was on a very rough Channel crossing when I was pregnant, so I think that wasn't surprising _pale_0 -

This will typically be a "walkers' map", not a book of road maps... so, firstly I am expected to identify which particular unnamed lane we're on, find the tiny hamlet I've never heard of, then navigate.... and have the answer ready within 30 seconds.
Hehe, I remember one time touring in France we completely failed to find a camp/caravan site where we wanted and, in frustration, Dad lobbed the map to me in the back and said, find me a route to Chamonix. So I did.
However, at that time I was only a walker so I found where we were, then found Chamonix - and picked the straightest line. Off we went, getting higher and higher, the road getting steeper and steeper, more and more narrow.
Dad was worrying that the car would overheat, Mum was trying not to look at the steep drop off the side of the road, my sister was fast asleep and I was thinking "This is a lovely view."
It turned out that I'd only picked the highest mountain pass in the area :rotfl:
Dunno why they were worrying, we got there OK.0 -

We did play I Spy - but if the journey is, say, 2 to 12 hours long, you can only play that so long.
We had another one, which was easier/better, of spotting car registrations in year order. First you had to spot a plate ending in A, then B, then C, then D.....
While good fun, you then realise that when you were doing it, car registrations probably only went up to an "H"
Was that an H at the beginning of the reg. or at the end?Hehe, I remember one time touring in France we completely failed to find a camp/caravan site where we wanted and, in frustration, Dad lobbed the map to me in the back and said, find me a route to Chamonix. So I did.
