In the main .... a lot of it is dire - and those people are people who think they're good enough to stand up and be counted.
The thing is: A bad meal you haven't had to cook is still better than one you've had to cook for yourself... in the most part.
If you've been fed, you can't say "That was rank" - you won't get invited again .... EVER.
It would take me ages and ages with days of planning and preparation.
What started to pi$$ me off was that I would hardly ever be invited to someone else's house for a dinner party, and when I was, it was usually a heated up-type meal like a bought quiche or something. Nice enough, but a bit ordinary.
In the end, after several years, I stopped doing them.
These days, I'd rather do other things. Most of my cooking from scratch is now vegetable stir-fries.(I just lurve spiders!)

Hmmm........
If information's "out there" then it has the potential to be found.
Sometimes..... we're just lucky.
Glad I did find it - and it's the full setup/everything you could possibly wish to know really. Who was where, what they were doing, what happened, names, dates, places.... the works!0 -

Yes. It's really good, thank you. Totally satisfied that curiosity.
Haha. Feels like coming home. Wish I could ask you lot a question0 -
When I was in my twenties, I used to give a lot of dinner parties, and I loved to try new recipes where you had to cook everything from scratch.

Come Dine with Me was custom-made for you
Although sometimes there are "fine diners" on there who thought they'd be in a group of similar-minded fine diners, only to find they were mixed with the daughter of the local chip shop owner, a student and somebody vegan0 -

Ooh no fear!
I watched that once and was horrified!
Is that the one where they go poking around the rest of your house?
I think I gave my very last dinner party in around 1990-ish.(I just lurve spiders!)

I don't mind eating food I might not normally choose as a guest, I think it's part of the spirit of accepting an invitation to someone's home really.0 -

Yes, 4-5 strangers, one night at each house. Judged on food, entertainment ....and they poke around your house

Yes, that should be the fun of a dinner party, eating food you've not had prepared that way before, or completely different food you've never had before.
(Not a heated-up quiche from the supermarket! It's different if you've made it yourself from scratch, though. Homemade quiche can be lush!)(I just lurve spiders!)

I don't even mind that. I go for the company . If I am given quiche I'll eat it with gratitude. It's s social thing.0
