Fun fact about me...I've never hosted a dinner party. Boxing day dinner for ex mum in law plus us or anniversary dinner for my parents plus me and ex hubby but never a dinner party.

:D Nor have I! When OH was in the Army I was always so glad I wasn't an officer's wife - they seemed to spend their lives having to have people to dinner. I would have found it dreadfully stressful.

i agree, having to give one would be awful, especially if you didn't know or particularly like the people involved. :(

I was very young, and hadn't long learned how to cook, so it was a chance to develop new skills.

Plus, I've always been happier in a small group where everyone is talking with everyone else, than in a large group, where people hive off into factions.
The dinner party was great for discussions and general jollity, as no-one was left out.

Even in a large restaurant party, if you're all put on a long table, it's very easy to find that people either side of you are talking to their neighbours, and you're left stuck in the middle!

I repeat, I was very young, and can cope a lot better with that sort of thing now! :D Past caring, you see! :rotfl:

Just catching up with today's excitement. But seeing as we're all coming out of the woodwork :)

After my friend''s bad news in May I unfortunately have my own.

    I have breast cancer.

I have my 2nd round of chemo next Thursday. I had my hair cut short last week (for those who haven't met me it was LONG).

It is sh1te but I'm trying to crack on with things.

I think I need legal advice too so I've been thinking this week of trying to contact LIR or NDG for potential contacts... what a coincidence!

So sorry to hear that. Wish there was something I could do to help. If you think of anything I could do, or if you'd appreciate a visit or something, please say.
Sending thoughts and hugs and prayers.

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I'd better clear my pm box!

    Done - sorry LIR!

Thanks Lydia. I'm still trying to get my head around it all really. For now positive vibes are perfect. Thank you!

    Oh Nikkster :(

If it's employment law I can recommend people in Inner Herts/North London, let me know if that's what you're after.

Otherwise vibes and dodgy hugs will have to do :grouphug:

Cheers Mas! No, my employer is being incredibly supportive I'm delighted to say. More clinical negligence sadly...

Always up for a dodgy hug :D
