Anyone been in touch with Aqua about this ?
Seems silly to have a 0% travel card then block the contactless on it ?Thanks

Their card - their rules! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
This is incredibly frustrating and has made the 0.5% cashback of the card not worth bothering with. It's actually worse than the card not having contactless at all, because shops try tapping it, it declines, you have to explain your issuer declines contactless abroad. It's a huge mess.
What is happening is an intentional blocking on their part. The Application Usage Control (9F07) for the contactless interface is set to not allow transactions abroad. Thus, transactions go online, with Application Usage Control having failed, and are then declined by Aqua.
No logical reason at all for them to be doing this, and I wish they would have not put contactless on the card at all rather than do this!0 -
I'm going to ring them and see if I can get an answer about this or at least ask them to change their mind.
Do we know if any other NewDay Cards have the same built in limitations abroad with Contactless? Thanks

I'm pretty sure every single UK credit card provider has the same policy in that contactless works in the UK only and not abroad, so good luck with that.
I have tested Halifax Clarity, Creation card and also Santander Zero credit card abroad for contactless payments and all have failed.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I've used my Barclaycard Visa Travel card contactless in USD several times in August when I last went. So it's not a policy of every bank.0 -

I don't have an Aqua card but other contactless cards of mine seem to work without problem overseas. Using contactless apparently prevents DCC being offered/imposed.Evolution, not revolution0

Interesting. The last time I went to the USA (NY) back in 2016 I don't think I saw one retailer that offered contactless or had terminals which accepted it.I've used contactless cards abroad; I use several cards (mainly Aqua) but the contactless use would probably have been Clarity, may also have been Nationwide.
I don't have a Nationwide Select card so can't comment on that. I have tried Clarity, Creation and Santander for contactless in Italy, Amsterdam, Cyprus and they didn't work in any of those countries.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Apple Pay & Android Pay are pushing the roll-out of Contactless in the USA. There are still few Chip & PIN terminals though...
Most of my transactions were still old swipe and sign!0
