LTE vs 4G ?

Without referencing documentation, we have two people with consistent speed issues which coincide with the display displaying LTE or 4G.
People don't seam to be able to explain why.
OP on O2, me EE.
I have an Iphone 6S.
It was running IOS9. It displayed LTE.
At home (with wifi off) I was getting a nice 20Mbps.
At work I was getting a disappointing ~2Mbps. (displaying LTE)
It was like this for a while, I blamed the local tower.
Later I upgraded the phone to IOS10.
To my surprise 4G was now displayed.
I ran a speed test at work, and now its nice and speedy
The 4G/LTE issue aside.
Your phone is an iPhone (on EE) - theirs are both Samsungs running Android (on o2).This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It's DEFINITELY a coincidence that one is faster than the other. Bottom line - 4G and LTE are the same thing. my ASUS Zenfone 2 always shows 4G, my ZTE phone (an AT&T phone) always shows LTE. I get similar speeds on both.

With the later firmware and 4G displayed I now get 40Mbps0

But I didn't. I got at least 20mbps less.0

Speeds can vary by the day (or even minute), as a site gets busy speeds will drop, you could be connected to any of 5 or more sites in an urban area
I can get between 20Mbps and 150Mbps where I am with the same phone. Just depending on congestion, time of day, which site I've connected to and probably even atmospheric conditions.
Just take that one point, 4G and LTE describe the same thing in the UK.====0 -
I have consistent results ( with in reason) over a number of days and months.
In the OPs case, at the same time.0 -

Go do some research, it seems pointless trying to get you to understand.
You're arguing two terms for the same thing are somehow different even though they mean the same thing.
Really, go and read up before carrying on arguing that white isn't white.====0 -
I think the point we are missing is that implementation methods have varied and it is only now the standard is defended and understood.
I would have thought it was stable when ios9 was relaced but maybe not.0
