BEWARE - I have recently had my Paypal account 'invaded'.
Last week I got a real email from Paypal and the very telling factor was that there was no link in the email, which immediately had me suspecting it was genuine! Someone has indeed accessed my account and tried to send large sums (£200-£400) from my paypal account to various countries, and so far paypal has stopped all but one of them, but I am hopeful that this money will soon be refunded, as a previous payment was.
So - beware, people can get into your account (I don't know how, I haven't used paypal for 3 months or so). I did as paypal advised and changed my security details but the money has gone out since then. As soon as the payment made has been refunded I will be closing my account and not too keen to use paypal in the future, guess I won't be using ebay... My advice, if you do get a real account incursion, is not just to change your security, just remove any payment authorities you can from your bank account etc, and close the account as soon as you can.0 -
I recently bought a new cast iron stove from a supplier on ebay. The stove was trashed when it arrived. So much so that the seams are cracked, the internals and glass are broken. Not useable. I spoke to the seller who said she would organise a replacement. The next day she called to say the delivery company will not accept the claim because the POD was signed. My neighbor signed for me because the driver turned up more than two hours late (I had other commitments I could not break). The POD did not say we were signing for goods received in good condition and there are no term and conditions on the back. The delivery company are suggesting i may have broken it. To get the amount of damage it has i think i might have had to hrow it out my bedroom window! I can even move the stove let alone drop it.How do I stand with this? I am currently £280.00 out of pocket. I reported this within hours of receipt.0

Hello There,
I'm sorry if this topic has been covered inumerable times before.
My ebay was refusing me admittance by repeatedly rejecting my password.
I sent a message via the ebay site and got an email in return which I'm 99% certain is genuine.
The trouble is that pesky 1%. Also, I'm struggling to remember if I had to supply all the information requested in the email when I originally registered with ebay. I DO remember deleting some emails purporting to be from ebay without reading them.
Here is the mail. What do you think? Thanks for any help.
Hello,
Thank you for writing to us regarding your problems whilst signing into
eBay as your password is not being accepted.
I reviewed our database and found that your account had been identified
by Site Security as possibly being compromised. Your password and secret
questions have been administratively changed by eBay, and you were also
sent an email regarding this.
Please be assured that your account is in good standing now.
Unfortunately, I can't look up your password as this information is
stored on an encrypted server for security reasons. Since you are facing
difficulty in accessing your account, to ensure the security and help
you access your account by generating a password, please provide us the
following information as it appears in your registration details:
E-mail address:
Full name:
Address:
City:
County:
Postal Code:
Country:
Primary phone number:
You can change the temporary password to one of your own choice after
signing into eBay.
Please be assured that eBay treats your personal information with utmost
care. Remember that eBay will never ask you for personal information
such as bank account or credit card numbers, passwords, PIN numbers or
National Insurance numbers in an email.
For your protection and confidentiality, no eBay employee will ever ask
you for your password or other sensitive information over the telephone
or by email.
Here are some tips on choosing a safer password:
1. Make sure your password is difficult to guess by not including your
name, eBay User ID, telephone number or date of birth
2. Don't use the same password on eBay that you use on your email
account, or on other websites
3. Use a combination of letters and numbers
4. Make your password at least 8 characters long
We also strongly recommend that you change any other online accounts
that use your old eBay password (for example email and PayPal) as soon
as you have changed your eBay account password to ensure that they are
also secure.

I got one yesterday confirming receipt of my payment.
I didnt recognise the ebay username, so typed it into the Ebay search and no ID was found.
It said receipt for payment for $47.00 which I thought was very weird.
I previously have had my bank account cloned and had fraudulent payments made, so I was a bit nervous this had happened and clicked on 'dispute this payment' but then, before the other page loaded I worked out it must be a phishing email, so closed the window.0 -
well done.yup never follow links in any paypal/ebay emails even if you think its real.
log into ebay/paypal directly.
think ive only had one paypal email once that required me ot follow the link but i phoned paypal to confirm before clicking it0 -
Just received a pretty genuine looking PayPal email with the title
Notice of Account Review Necessity
I get quite a few 'phishing' emails but this is a new one to me. What with the current problems some are having with PayPal / hijacked accounts I thought it was wise to flag it up.0
