A clear illustration of how little people actually know. Simply reacting to events as they occur in indignation as it's fits their argument. Rather than following current events all the time. The fall in Sterling was totally predictable. In reality the movement produced a huge welcome benefit to the wider economy.

So who predicted that Sterling would fall like a stone the moment the result of the referendum was announce.

After yesterday's spat about the possibility of Brexit talks stalling comes this:
Both sides want to speed up Brexit talks by meeting more frequently

Means little when imports show little sign of falling significantly. The UK needs to source and consume more domestically produced product. Then we would have a possibility of seeing a boom. As the country as a whole would get wealthier through increased levels of activity.

    Perfect analysis.
The British manufacturer has had 13 months to step up. Why is it not happening. Have the British Government acted to boost U.K. Industry in the last 13 months.
I think not. You should ask why not?

Why not ask your beloved EU who have taken three years to decide that Hamas are indeed a terrorist organization, finally agreeing only this week.

Wrong thread size. There is one specifically set up to show examples of EU blah blah.
    Please keep up.

For someone that follows the news so closely you are poorly informed . We've regularly discussed this point on this very forum. Believe or not there is a real world outside the Brexit circus. That moves on triggers. The referendum outcome just happened to be that trigger. Much of what gets discussed is on the radar for a very long time. Just a question of when.

Nor do I belong to a clan. When posts start getting personal. A sure sign that people are no willing to debate as adults. Instead resorting to childish games. You are entitled to your own opinion as I am mine. Best to just keep it that way.

Oh please! Currency movements "normally" yes there is nothing normal about currency trading, but, those movements evolve over time. Any movement above, let's say for this example, 5% is a shock, like Krakatoa.
If you want to suggest that the pounds movement in the moments after the referendum result was normal, then I would worry about......

Yes I am poorly informed about the future however the past is written in granite, even the Brexit clan spin doctors can NOT change what happened to the currency markets on that day.

Yes the real world of beach and sun, see you tomorrow on the beach.

Here is something from infacts.org. They are definitely ANTI Brexit but still worth reading.
They suggest the transition period will mask the amount of money in the financial settlement with the EU.
I imagine most Brexiters had thought of that but have not mentioned it, so it is interesting to see it in print.
    https://infacts.org/long-grass-cold-comfort-farm/

"The big potential political benefit of the three-year “off-the-shelf” transition period that Philip Hammond has said that he is seeking is that it could defuse the explosive issue of Britain’s divorce bill. A large part of those financial liabilities consists of British contributions to EU budgetary programmes over that three-year period. So if those costs can be relabelled as simply transitional costs, the wrath of the Mail and the Express may be more easily managed — getting the government to an exit deal sooner and more smoothly."

From the same article as above from this blatant anti Brexit site

"Any Remainers who believe that the EU27 might simply allow, let alone welcome, a change of Britain’s mind about leaving the Union should ask themselves why our European partners would take the risk of allowing us back absent a general election or referendum that provided a sense of clarity and security about Britain’s intentions. We have caused enough trouble already. President Macron can safely be relied upon to forget the fact that he once said Britain would be welcome to change its mind. He is already sounding more like General de Gaulle every day."

Brexiters will rejoice and remainders will be saddened but it is difficult to argue against. Looks like there is no avoiding disaster.

From the anti Brexit site infacts.org an article about the border.
"While some hoped that high-tech solutions to policing the land border might be found, Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar has dismissed these as unworkable, instead suggesting that immigration and customs checks should take place at ports and airports – a sea border between parts of the UK. That may be a pity, but a 300-mile border would indeed require an awful lot of cameras, mostly in remote areas.

While Varadkar’s idea would minimise disruption on the Irish border, the idea of customs and passport checks between different parts of the United Kingdom – emphasis on the first word – was never going to be popular, and Theresa May’s parliamentary reliance on the DUP likely makes this a political impossibility. "

Talking of Borders. This from Politico.

"In evidence to the House of Lords, the British overseas territory Anguilla said it was not consulted prior to the EU referendum, did not get a vote, and must be listened to more seriously as it has a direct border with an EU member (France), just like Gibraltar and Northern Ireland. The territory is heavily dependent on France and the Netherlands for essential goods and services"

Who knew? yes of course all the well informed Brexiters.
