After finding my first picture of a 'nappy cake' on the web, I was instantly hooked and after few searches, I came across this 'special occasions' forum (Nov 97). (Ooops, I meant 07)

At the time I was living in Spain and being away from friends and family, it was lovely to make new friends, and have a friendly banter with people that also had an interest in creating different crafts.
Without all the friendly help, ideas and encouragement, I would never of had the confidence to of held my own weekly craft stalls, which was absolutely fantastic, got me out and about meeting new people, as well as giving me the chance to earn my own pocket money.

NEVER, EVER in all this time, have I ever heard anyone moaning about somebody copying their crafts.
I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS THE WHOLE IDEA OF THESE FORUMS!!!
TO HELP, ADVISE AND SHARE our ideas ..... in order for people to COPY and create their own.

I have NEVER, EVER not helped or emailed anyone who has requested help or even when they have requested an emailed template from me. I have always felt quite honoured that people thought my creations worth copying. Never bitter.

After a FRIENDLY BANTER with Rusty about us copying each other with the gingham ...... all hell broke loose ..... the comments on 'what is it with everyone copying' ..... etc, etc, I was just so shocked. I sat down and showed my OH all the comments and even he hit the nail on the head .... 'What's their problem, I thought the site was there to help each other out' .

'So and so' uses that ribbon, 'so and so' uses that ribbon, ...... why should we all be worried about using any ribbons that we like ...... so what if somebody's cake looks like somebody elses ....... if you are so afraid of it, DON'T BOTHER POSTING'.

Lets face it, nothing that is being created or posted on here is nothing much different that we cannot find on other craft/nappy cake sites, whether it be UK, USA or elsewhere.

I wonder just how many people have now lost the confidence to actually post their piccies for fear of being accused.

How many people (including me) would now not show their leaflets ..... for fear of being accused.

Lets just get the forum back to how it was ................

FRIENDLY, HELPFULL, OFFERING ADVICE without anyone having the fear of their creation 'COPYING' or 'LOOKING' like somebody elses.

I suggest if you can't do that, they maybe start a new thread of your own, and leave us to enjoy this one .... the way it used to be.

    Rant over

Having followed and lurked for ages and marvelled at you ladies' creativity I have finally taken the plunge and have begun to make some nappy cakes and other baby gifts for family, friends and at a small local Spring Fair.....am however feeling a bit nervous about posting piccies due to recent activity on the thread - such a shame but am sure this is what goes on out there in the big bad world of business and competition.......as one of the acts on Britains Got Talent said 'I am chasing the dream not the competition' . Throughout our lives we will all have what we think are unique and original ideas ...whether through words written or items created but unless you are able to protect those ideas by legal means and if you allow others to access those ideas by posting on forums such as this you do open yourself up for copying.....I was a teacher before being a stay at home mum and often went into schools and saw ideas that I then went back and did with my class - usually with a bit of tweaking - was I in the wrong? Or did I take an idea and make it my own?
I don't know the answers ( not sure if I can even remember the questions these days!! LOL) :) but I agree the sparkle of creativity seems to have disappeared .........
Sending magic fairy dust to you all.......

Hoping to post pics soon ( once I pluck up courage and come out from hiding behind sofa ) :)
    Queenbee,
I couldn't of put it better myself. Exactly what I thought these forums were all about.
Please don't stop the 'minority' ruin it for you. We'd all love to see your creations, whether or not, similar to anyone elses !!!

Can i just say that i have had boxes of baby stuff sat here.( About 6 weeks nowand i still havent made anything :o) I read this thread.... but i havent posted as i always seen the underlining you copied bit :rotfl:. I am a regular on another thread on this board and must say that Rusty has been nothing but friendly and offerred to help, if i needed it. I love coming on here looking at all your fantastic creations, they are all beautiful.

This whole forum is about helping people but unfortunately some just like to come and stir trouble. For whatever reason they have  I for one hope that everyone can look past these people,so that this thread can continue. On what is usually a happy, friendly community board.
furrypig says:my name is Choccy and I am addicted to nose free stamps as I want to save them all and give them noses!!!:rotfl:
About me. Im Choccy or Chocolate orange depending on where i am.Yes occasionally i am a total looon who spends too long online, but no where near as much £ as her spendy elves do ..:D
