Well I have just made my first cake and I am PEEVED!! - had just about got it how I liked it (pretty difficult actually cos when I got the fleece blanket out of the packet it was HUGE!! very tricky indeed) anyway as I say just got it mostly how I wanted when my deeeeelightful hubby decided to make me a cup of tea - now thats a lovely thing I bet you're thinking BUT I was in the dining room and because the dining table was loaded up with loads of cr** - mostly his I hasten to add I was putting the cake together on the ironing board soooo he decides to put the cup of tea on the ironing board...?!
You can guess the rest I'm sure - I did hear him say I've put it here & being busy I didn't look up so assumed he had put it on the dining table but noooooooo so anyway off he went back out into the garden & then I finished tying a ribbon & with a flourish my hand hit the cup sending tea all over the ironing board all up the wall and more importantly on the fleece blanket!!! it is now in the wash, the hubby is in the doghouse and I feel like I've wasted the last couple of hours!!!!

Oh no! That sounds exactly like something I would do! At least it only got your blanket and not the nappies! Post a piccie when you've got rid of the tea stains!!Avon Rep - C13 68.86; C14 259.29; C15 218.28; C16 268.42; C17 ...?

Well luckily I've got another fleece blanket so have used that now & it was much easier as it was a better size!! Shame the other one has had tea spilt on it as I can't take it back now due to the size being toooo big!! Anyways off to load a photo on photobucket back in a mo with photo...0

Lrlrip your cake is stunning!!! I love the duck where did you get it from? :T:T
Popkins - what a disaster I bet the air was blue!!! Thank god you had a spare blanket - can't wait to see your piccieThe bobbly blankets can be bought in Home Bargains for £2.99 - i've been there today but they only had the plain fleece in stock.
I prefer the bobbly blankets the best so try to use them the most xLittle Miss Chatterbox

Irlip love the cake, especially your duck he's gorgeous!
Popkins I fully sympathise! My dh has done similar except he put a glass of coke down on the table next to mine then promptly sent it flying! Very luckily for him it only got one drop on the fleece blanket at the back and that dabbed off nicely!
I persuaded dh to splash out on expensive theatre tickets for my dad's 65th birthday today on the basis I have sold 2 x 3 tiers this week and have another 2 orders for 2 tiers and another order in the next few weeks for another 2 x 3 tiers. However went to have my eyes tested today for the first time in 5 years and now have to wear glasses for driving so that cost us £160 for the eye test and 1 pair of glasses and another pair of prescription sunglasses! Oops! Hope I get a few more orders!0 -
Well here is my first attempt - have been going on about doing one for weeks now & finally done it - I'm actually going to give it to a friend of a friend who has just given birth to a baby girl! Any comments/suggestions welcome - its not totally finished as waiting for ribbons to be delivered - found this pink bit in a cupboard...
It was a bit tricky doing the nappies and I don't know whether I've used enough - I wanted to use about 40 as it is a 3 tier but in the end only used 36 - Whaddya think?
Items are:
Nappies - Mr T's special offer - £2.88 (norm approx £5.40)
Butterfly Fleece blanket - Matalan - £3.00
Bunny Hat - Minimode MrB's - £2.00 (norm £4.00)
Bunny bootees - Minimode MrB's - £2.00 (norm £4.00)
Pink lacy Socks x2 pairs MrB's - £1.00 (norm £2.00)
Bunny Bib x2 @ back of cake - £0.50 (norm £1.00)
Bunny soft Toy - Tescos - £3.00
Feeding Cloth x1 - Matalan - £0.67 (part of pack of 3)
Muslin x1 - Mr T's - £0.58 (part of pack of 6)
So total cost to me with shopping around/savings = £15.63
Cost if paid normal prices = £23.65
I was going to put in some toiletries stuff as well but tbh as I've done this as a practice run & not going to be paid for it and its for a friend of a friend I've decided not to - do you think that matters? I think its still a nice gift to get & its cost me about £15 so its not too much for my pocket!! Only thing I'm thinking is if I wanted to start doing these & charging people then if I charged say £25 would it be too much? that would mean something like £1.35 for my time! How much profit roughly do you guys make on yours? anyways might try and knock up a one tier bathtime cake later as I bought a really cute 'chick' loofah in Wilkos yesterday!! How many nappies do you guys normally do in a one tier cake?
I await your comments! she says quietly chomping on nails LOL!0 -

Maria & Shelley - thank you so much!! I must admit I love it but then again I LOVE anything pink!! When I start to try and wrap it in cellaphane it could all go horribly wrong - must dig out Rainmacs lovely instructions for that...
Luckily the other fleece has washed up fine - no tea stains! Have decided that I'm gonna try and turn it into two blankets - it really is that big!! Bought a sewing machine recently but haven't got a clue how to use it - could be interesting!!!
Need to design an ingredients card as well - not at all happy with my attempts so far though!!
thanks again for lovely comments - its you guys who have inspired me with all your lovely cakes on here! I'm not working at the moment due to health issues but this is something I can do at home & hopefully make a few pennies!0
