Wow girls, I absolutely adore all of your Nappy Cakes, you're a talented bunch. :T
Until 2 days ago I had never heard of Nappy Cakes, must admit I did feel a wee bit queasy when I saw the thread title, I was dreading what I was about to read.
My Cousin's girlfriend is pregnant, with their first child, she's not due until June but I now know what I'll be giving them as a gift - well, attempting it anyway. I'll probably end up just handing them a carrier bag full of rolled up nappies and clothes etc unwrapped and missing their original packaging. :rotfl:
Thanks again for sharing all your wonderful creations and tips etc. If I get stuck I'll know where to come...

Those are absolutely gorgeous Irlrip .. what a fantastic job you have done, someone is going to be very happy to receive them. That pink/white doggie is sooooo cute. I like the teddy on the bottom layer of the piglet one as well. Will have to try a similar bottom tier as it adds a different dimension. Have made my first nappy cake but couldn't get the pictures to load ,but it is nowhere near as nice as yours, but hopefully practice will make perfect lol. Is it the 10 inch cake board that you use?0

Fingers crossed it works (and toes lol)
My daughter came to visit and we made a Nappy Cake for her friend who has just had a baby.
It was the first attempt so I jokingly said well we have all the Ingredients, Just hope that it rises to the occasion and doesn't flop in the middle.
I had a Roses tin (now empty of course) from Xmas and she decided that the swirl method would be easier to try than having to roll up individual nappies, which was actually much easier to do than we thought it would be.
She really enjoyed doing it. We got it all wrapped up in cellophane and off she took it home. I then realised we had completely forgotten about putting ribbon round the layers, wouldn;t mind but I had sepcially bought the baby ribbon for it! I asked if she wanted to take the wrapping off and put the ribbon on but decided to leave well alone and put it on the next one lol.
I was chuffed with my attempt at the bow as well... that turned out a lot better than I thought it would. I bought a couple of rolls of the tearing ribbon at a local florists and had a practice.
Thanks everyone for all your help, sharing your ideas and giving me the Inspiration.0 -
