Shelley fab fab fab!!!!!!! Loving that cake! :T :T :T

Went to Asda (thanks to Rusty;) ) and have managed to pick up the 22p cakes boards!...I stocked up :D .

Also they had the huggies on offer - so instead of buying size 2s which werent on offer, I bought the size 3s triple value box and they work out at 6.8p per nappy which is a bargain!

Oooh and even better and nothing to do with nappy cakes but good for my two little boys are the big value 4 pack of Huggies wipes are on offer at 2 for £5. Meaning 8 packs of wipes for £5!- I stocked up :D .

Like Rusty said there are loads more offers on some baby clothing and accessories but didnt have a look at those as tend to use mini mode, John Lewis and M&S stuff.

Well i've just been asked by my friend to make up a nappy cake of which is to be used as a raffle prize.
Easy enough you are thinking ........ BUT they are wanting it with a country and western theme

Hmmm, got some internet searching to do I thinks ..... and a trip to the party shop.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi Candy

I don't normally post on this board bt I do lurk(!) and I also make nappy cakes.

How about a pair of these baby shoes for your cowboy cake

My son had some similar ones as a baby and they are very cute.

Also what about using one of the Mothercare cow print sleepsuits?

Agree with the red and white gingham ribbn idea too.

  • Hiya thanks for all the hugs i needed them. A leaftlet is a good idea but there isn't really any offices really around here we are all small buisnesses. I really thought at least one person that took my cards at the craft fairs i did would have rang me with and order as lots of people said we have babies due in jan and will def call you but nothing! i have only ever sold one xmas one and done some for family. I went to my local baby shop to see if she would have some business cards or even a cake on display but she is closing down within the next month and she can't get rid of her own stock.

I am a stay at home mum so i don't have a work place i can show them off to either.
:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boys :)

  • Hi Eveyone

I have been mainly lurking on here over the last few weeks and I am very impressed by your talent.

My daughter's friend is due her baby in the next week os so. She doesn't know the sex yet so I have been stocking up with both blue and pink and am hoping to try my first nappy cake very soon.

Will it look ok with first size nappies as I bought them without realising that most people tend to make them with the next sizes. Will the size of the cake and decor look ok with the first size nappies please?

I am going to our nearest Asda early next week (about 35 miles away)and hope to get some muslin clothes and cake boards.

I have bought some bits and pieces from Home Bargains. Today they had pink and blue 'my first' comfort blaket toys with puppy heads and some plush rattles to match so I bought some of those.

I also bought a roll of white spot cellophane and some rolls of poly ribbon at the local florist. I have been practising making pom pom bows. I have now got 6 of them ... mmm seemed a good idea at the time but I am fast running out of storage space lol. More grumbles from hubby at a guess lol.

Is it easier to make the rolled up nappy cake or the swirl. I have seen an instruction video for the rolled upones but dont really know what the swirl method is. Which is easier and which looks better please?

    Thanks

I always do the swirl but as this is your 1st it might be easier to do the rolled up way

Only a quick visit ladies as I'm working a double back today. I'm planning on popping into Asda now on my way back into work to buy some sleepsuits.
As I was leaving work at 6am this morning a work colleague gave me a load of baby items and asked me if I would make a nappy cake from them!!!!!! I dont mind at all but you should see how much stuff he has!!! I made one for his wife recently and now she wants me to make one for her friend so she went on a spending spree and gave me all the contents. The bag contained 7 vests, 3 sleepsuits, soft toy, outfit, large talc, large baby bath. large tub of cotton buds, large shampoo and photo album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:
This one is going to be a major challenge and I really doubt whether I will be able to fit it all in!!! Luckily I've got about 6 weeks to do it.
