I would love to have a go at making something like this for the new nephew for christmas its £25 on the website but im sure i could do it cheaper, I havent done a nappy cake before and was wondering it anyone had any tips
to make it look this good. :D .
This is what it says it has in it and ive already bought a christmas bib, and ive got a voucher of pampers nappys, bodys and booties arnt that much to pick up. Ive got him a few bit to put in the middle aswell like dummy's drinking cups.

    20 x Huggies Nappies
    1 x white body
    1 x My 1st Christmas bib
    1 x Reindeer Baby hat
1 x Pair of Christmas booties

    Many thanks
    mm
  • Hi Minimacka just a rough guide but here goes this is personally the kind of thing I would use.

    20 x pampers = 1 pack of size 2 pampers baby dry (45) - £5.50 - your voucher
    3 x white body suits - £1.50 -http://direct.asda.com/3-Pack-Short-Sleeve-Bodysuit/GEM1479,default,pd.html
    Reindeer sleepsuit + hat £6.50 http://direct.asda.com/Reindeer-Sleepsuit/GEM3805,default,pd.html
    Rudolph top - £2.50 - http://direct.asda.com/Rudolph-Top/GEM3574,default,pd.html
Ribbon approx 2 metres (cheap from local shops max of £1)

So a total for all of above would be £17 however you could swap bits around and instore at asda you can buy christmas bootees and bibs to go with the hat. these are normally £2 or £3 so even if you added these its a total of £20 but you don't need to add everything. Plus you would have enough nappies to do a 3 tier cake rather than a 2 and probably still have some left over.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks RF,
I thought it was a bit unusual and the nappies would come in handy, he is only 8 weeks old but has had so much nice stuff given doesnt actually need anything. I am going girlie shopping on saturday to York and they have an asda so i will pop in and see what they have clothes wise.

    I really appreciate your help.

    Thanks

MM if he is 8 weeks old then maybe you could consider getting a size 3 nappy?? or could you ask his mum what size nappies he is in? personally I always use size 3's unless they are cakes for family

    Hi Moonpenny,

Thanks for the tips, very good points. My brother has done it and is still tinkering!

    RF,

Thanks, hoping the fayre will be good as it's my first one. Trying not to get my hopes up as know it's more a pr exercise than sales!

Lisa, depends on the size of the cake for me.

For a 2 teir I put in a babies bottle. For a 3 teir I either use a bottle of wine or a bottle of talc. Wine puts the price up by £5 though so its the choice of the customer :)

  • Hi girls well I'm home after the 1st school fayre and a bit disappointed - just one sale and shes family so not sure that counts!!!!! Lots of ooohing and aahing and plenty of cards taken but no actual sales.
I did really expect this though but at least i've generated interest (although I'm sure I lip read a woman saying they were dreadful!!!!!!!!). Might be paranoia but she was a sour faced old cow anyway LOL:rotfl:

Not expecting any different in my son's school fayre tomorrow but at least I know everyone there!!!

Just checked my email though and I've sold a Xmas one and a friend is coming to the fayre tomorrow to have a look as she wants one.

    Good luck to Becs ;)

Hi Shelley, Sorry to hear your stall didn't do very well! I suppose you will always get people who hate what you do. It's one of those things you either love or hate. I thought your stall looked really pretty!

Shelley i think your stall looks fab. There is a blog where they run anyone and everything down and a few weeks ago it was my turn and they really let go and all said how bad my nappy cakes are and what a waste of time it was for me doing them some very nasty things where said on there but not one of them would give out there name
