Just a quick note for nappy cakes makers. I saw one of those mini jam jars on ebay with a pair of baby socks in them. The label read baby jam. Then they were placed in colour coordinating boxes had lemon , blue and pink.

    Hi everybody, newbie here :j

Everyones cakes are fabulous. Read all 70 odd threads over 3 nights!! Bella your
cakes and website are so professional, they look tremendous. So does everybody elses mind you. I have recently been making cakes and trying to sell on e-bay but it seems so hard to get sales on there. People seem to buy from the same 2 or 3 sellers and I just cant get off the ground there at all. Anybody else found that? This has been so helpful to me, everybodys advice and tips, its a great resource. Keep up the good and helpful work everyone. xx :o

I dont sell my cakes on there (well i may try 1 now and then) like you said there is 2 or 3 that do very well so i thought no point in trying all my other baby gifts do very well but more and more are doing them as well now so i might just give up

My business cards came yesterday! I only ordered 50 as a few people I have given cakes to said they would happily hand them out when people show interest in the hospital (which they tend to do).

I didnt order too many as Im desperate to get a website sorted, but that will mean making up examples.... What did you all do at first? Did you make up examples to show people, and then do what with them? Lol. I think my OH would KILL me if they were lying around the house!! He was desperate to get rid of them last time I made some, hehe.

I love the mini cake that youve made Bella, and think these could sell really well! Which cakes do you find give you the most business?

ahh my head is pickled. need to buy 400 nappies for my cakes to start making for the fair and ive been looking aobut trying to find the best deal!!! which ones are the best lookswise for the cakes?

Asda currently have a 2 for £20 deal on the boxes of 104 pampers. they also do some kind of deal for huggies, sorry I can't remember what it was though as I only use pampers on my little girl but huggies in the nappy cakes however I have a garage full of stock!

I use pampers as the cakes are covered in blankets/muslins/clothes anyway so you can't really see them. I recommend using a top brand nappy i.e pampers or huggies if you are selling them as there are people out there who will not use supermarket brands.

does everyone roll their nappies and elastic band them?

I roll and band, and I also use the way Bella said but I start off with a rolled nappy then wrap others around that. I found both ways to be the same time wise :)

I just had a look on ebay and i see there is someone on there selling sock buds for 99p on buy it now she also as about 5 photos showing them off how can she be making any money on them. I thought it was 12p per photoafter the 1st one

There are ways around paying for extra photos ;)

I sell loads on ebay, haven't recently though but then it is almost christmas and people tend to be too busy buying christmas presents :) I have had over 50 orders through ebay though in about 3-4 months, and over 120 sales in total in that period.

sometimes you elastic band and roll them seperately and sometime you start with one like that then build it up by wrapping the other nappies around it? doesnt it get too bigto wrap nappy around?

Hi there, yes it does get too big, however you get to the stage where its 2 nappy lengths if that makes sense so if you have one big elastic band to keep it all in place as you add then where one nappy finishes another nappy starts if that makes sense?
