Hi everybody, newbie here :j
Everyones cakes are fabulous. Read all 70 odd threads over 3 nights!! Bella your
cakes and website are so professional, they look tremendous. So does everybody elses mind you. I have recently been making cakes and trying to sell on e-bay but it seems so hard to get sales on there. People seem to buy from the same 2 or 3 sellers and I just cant get off the ground there at all. Anybody else found that? This has been so helpful to me, everybodys advice and tips, its a great resource. Keep up the good and helpful work everyone. xx0 -
Just a quick note for nappy cakes makers. I saw one of those mini jam jars on ebay with a pair of baby socks in them. The label read baby jam. Then they were placed in colour coordinating boxes had lemon , blue and pink.

Hi Chopster2,
I did start out trying to sell on ebay but didn't have much luck. I've sold a couple on there but decided it wasn't worth while. I get a much better response from word of mouth. My own conclusion and I may be wrong is that because so many people don't know what nappy cakes are they won't actually be looking for them on ebay. My guess is the regular sellers on there are still probably selling the most through word of mouth, ie someone buys one off there then others see it and go to that seller on ebay. I may be wrong but that's why I didn't bother with it anymore.

When I did mine I put a band around each one to hold it at first, but took the individual bands off once the big band was around the whole tier and they stayed rolled up just fine.
As for nappies, my friend recommends Sainsbury's own, which are nice and plain and really cheap - and even cheaper when they run the 1/3 off promotion.
Also, join the Tesco, Boots, Huggies and Pampers clubs as they send money-off coupons regularly, and of course every little helps.0 -
Hi rjh090384
I bought 4 boxes of size 3 pampers (104 per box) from Boots on their xmas shopping evening. They are £9.99 a box. I also bought some xmas bibs and outfits that were buy one get 2nd half price to take my spend to over £50. That gave me £12.00 of advantage points to use in the future or for more bits for the cakes. I went to the first shopping evening and they gave me another voucher to use at the next one which will give me an extra £15 of points on a £50 spend. Very handy as will be going back for more outfits to put in my luxury 3 tier ones. If you deduct the £12 of points off the £39.96 each nappy works out at just under 7p each.
