  • Hello!! Can I joint??? I've been reading through a couple of pages, but there are over 51 in total, and I think my boss would start to notice..... ;)

My best friend and his g/f have just found out today they are having a baby boy (this best friend is like my brother, long family friends since children) in march.
So i wanted to start collecting things to make a boys nappy cake with, but without having to read every post, do you think I could get a beginers essentials recipe list, I know i'll need nappies - obviously  I wouldnt know what size, as I dont have a baby.... maybe size 2??
But I really dont know where to start, or what else I will need for it...
I'm going to just pic up bits as and when I see them on offer, or in the xmas sales, as its not due till March.
Thanks for all your help, and may I say everyones cakes look amazing, you are all so creative!!!!! I will need help with folding neatly techiques when it comes to it... lol :o x

    The Cheek.

Just rang my hubby cause we are stocking a few of the cakes in our baby shop and he said a few old dears had just been in and commented on how nice they were etc, then said they will have to go home and make some

    Hey little otter, welcome!!

    Here's my guide....

Cake board (Bag and Box man - online)
Nappies (Basically whoever has special offers on)
    Ribbon (any craft shop)
Cellophane (ebay, flower hour and plenty flowers are good)
    Pull Bows (ebay again)
Somthing for the middle. I tend to use wine/bottle of talc depending on if they want to pay extra for the wine (extra fiver) but will normally do wine/champagne/bucks fizz if its for a mate :)

    Bottom teir...
Blanket or Towel (I like the hooded ones and so get blankets from Matalan or towels from ToysRus)
Baby bath (I use 2 and make them colour match the cake:P)

    Middle teir...
Body suits (I use 2 and find Asda is best value / quality)
Bibs (I use 2 again and again asda)
Pair of booties (Matalans are cute and also slightly cheapest)

    Top teir...
    Muslin cloth (again asda...)

    And topped with a toy!!!

My friend uses Sainsbury's nappies and recommends them. They're also good for nappy cakes as they are plain white apart from the strip at the top. They cost just over £1 for about 30 in the current third off promotion. I got some today and some other lovely bargains as there's a third off nappies, toiletries and baby clothes. :)
