Have just called the branch and they have asked for the registration, the PCN number and have said they will email MET Parking Services (the PPC? No idea what that means, sorry) and notify them that we shouldn't be charged (they'll also be CC'ing me in ).
There you go .... shop/landowner cancellations really are the easiest way to get these PCN (Parking Charge Notices) given by PPC's (Private Parking Companies) off your back! Impressive from McDonalds that they didn't try to brush you off first time ... I stand corrected!

Last piece of advice, make sure you receive a confirmation of cancellation from MET in writing either by email or letter and keep it safe so there is no further come back for you ever. The written cancellation should include the PCN number and the VRN (Vehicle Registration Number).

Let us know when you have that ... :) ... we like a nice confirmed cancellation.
  • Red - I have never used this forum before and have no idea how I thanked your post but it was a genuine mistake.

I wasn't trying to withhold any information, it was purely a naive omission!

as a newbie here, PLEASE read the NEWBIES sticky thread near the top of this forum, its essential reading

it also contains explanations of acronyms used , like PPC

ie:- you would not ask me or us what BBC or BT means , lol

you asked about using the appeal letter, but didnt scroll down and read the acronyms ?

hopefully your complaint will get it cancelled , in writing , by MET , which is the best and main way of sorting this out

as a newbie here, you should have read the forum rules, one of which is that uploads of files (including pictures) is not allowed on this site , hence why you cannot attach them

in future, use a file hosting site to host files and add the URL in your replies , so for photos and scans use tinypic or photobucket

    hope that helps
  • Wow what a welcome! Thanks Red, you really have made me feel like this is a great place to come for help!
I hope you're this pleasant in real life - your spouse/cat must be so lucky to have you in their lives with all that compassion and understanding. Hell, I might just leave my husband and come find you!

As for the Newbies thread, I did read it (on a laptop and not a mobile device as it forewarned just in case you wish to berate me for any misdemeanour there...) but there is a heck of a lot of information there none of which relates to if the location address is wrong (hence my thread...).

Right, as this dialogue has turned me on so much, I'm off to jump my hubby....

Cool, this could be our first "cancelled PCN baby" ... :)

    On a serious note:
    1) Please do let us know you received a cancellation letter / email from MET, if you don't receive one please chase McDonalds up again
    and;
    2) RedX is a good guy, a regular poster who helps lots of people on here. Genuinely he is not having a go at you whatsoever, quite the opposite. He is just stating the best way to get information more as a reference for future readers of your thread. Please don't take offence or think the regulars on here are not welcoming or friendly, they are. It's just they get a lot of new threads each day with people needing help, which they are very glad to give (especially when we hear quick success stories like yours!)

because you decided to quote me in your reply, I gave you all the advice and knowledge you need, plus how and where to get it , mainly for the next time you get a pcn AND for anyone else who reads this thread in the future

my posts were factual and there was no malice in them whatsoever
at no time did I break the rules or belittle you or be offensive or anything , it was all facts and information that all newbies need to progress themselves

far too many people use phones on this site and dont read all the info, I use a laptop and am glad you do the same so cannot see how you missed the basics

I also help thousands of people on here to beat these sc@mmers, so I challenge you to get up to speed, beat this shower you are fighting and then help as many people as I do on here, daily , despite me having severe back troubles and other disabilities, so sorry for not being so upbeat and welcoming but I bear you no malice and am merely pointing out what you missed in your rush to get your thread written and posted

yes I am matter of fact , I was trained that way as an engineer where no personal info or compassion etc was allowed in professional reports , plus this isnt faceache so I dont go in for the personal touch , with anyone , its all facts etc with me and I call it as I see it, plus you didnt get my name right , lol , there is an x in redx , lol

nothing personal and I wasnt "having a go" , but sometimes its like dealing with kids on here even though you know the people are adults because they are likely to be 18 and over due to being qualified drivers

the whole point of having the info in sticky threads is so we dont have to reproduce the same guff every time we help somebody

as for your question about location, it was extremely valid and an interesting point so I never had a problem with you asking about it, nor did I pull you up about it , plus I liked the prompt answer you received in post #2

try eating beans on toast morning , noon and night , 7 days a week , 365 days a year and then lets see if your posts change to the bare essentials with no frills attached

good luck (and I mean it)

    ps:- read my profile

Thanked 17,333 Times in 10,435 Posts

thats more thanks than posts in less than 4 years , like most regulars here

I dont have a cat, I do have a spouse and I live with 24/7/365 days a year severe back pain which is currently chronic and has been for a week or more , so irrascible ? - yes , maybe

When I see comments I've made I sometimes think they sound rather curt. Usually it's because I'm rushing, tired or doing several things at once.

Still I'm sure most OP's would rather have a curt response than no response at all, or a polite one that is not helpful.

That said, I think Redx' comments above are perfectly reasonable and polite.

OP - as above don't take your eye off the ball with this. Keep the pressure on Mcds until you get written confirmation from MET that the PCN is cancelled.

If it isn't, come back and this forum - including Redx - will advise further.
  • I have to say I fail to see the relevance of disability or not in this discussion, but if you are in pain I would recommend discussing your pain with a pain management team - they are specialists in their field. If you are already under their care perhaps a review of your medication may be beneficial to you particularly if is affecting your mood and activities of daily living (these are key words, be sure to use them). Also if your diet is purely beans-on-toast, three times a day, I would strongly suggest that you require a dietician review as this in itself can cause complications with musculoskeletal and neurological issues.

This is the first parking Notice/fine of any description for both myself and husband; between us we have over 25yrs driving experience of everything from mopeds up to articulated with trailers. So this is something very new to us.

I also think you may need to move with the times - most households do not own laptops and/or desktop computers anymore. The majority of internet access is via a tablet and/or mobile device.

Your use of social media is also of no relevance to me or my original question, but I thank you for acknowledging my question isn't answered within the sticky thread - maybe you could ensure this is rectified.

    Good day.

This was fun to read, made a change! Glad you got it cancelled!

Really? I disagree in my experience; I work in a school and whilst most students have phones & tablets, most have a laptop or PC at home and it really is best to research things (academic subjects and exam past papers as well as any forum research) on a PC or laptop, not a small screen. Far better to research anything important or moneysaving, e.g. voucher codes, tripadvisor, review sites, shopping sites, Quidco, etc. as well as forum advice threads on a PC or laptop every time.

I too have smiled at the interchange.

Not sure whether this was a literal comment, or a bit 'tongue in cheek', but I know what Redx means by a diet of beans on toast. We are asked the same questions literally every day of the year - 24/7/365 - and we generally lap them all up and answer those same questions every time in a bid to help each poster with their problems.

I have contributed over 3,000 pieces of advice (often same stuff every day - it's endless) on average ever year, Redx even more, and our major contributor, Coupon-mad, more than any of us combined.

It is time consuming, same old stuff, and often tedious, (a bit 'beans on toast-ish' as a daily diet), yet we do it (and do it freely) because we see the injustices that are rampant in the private parking game, where the naive, the vulnerable, the worried, the sick, even the dying are traumatised by this savage, runaway train, fuelled totally via intimidation, harassment, threat and greed.

We all try to help ........ in our own way. It seems to work with most posters, especially when our advice helps them avoid paying a scammer.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
