Does any one have a tried and tested way of using up the irritating bits of soap that dont really lather up and are a bit small to do anthing with. I have done a search but not really found anything.
cheers

You will need someone to back this up first before you do it, but I had heard you can melt them all together and harden them up to make a new bar of soap.
Can anyone confirm?0 -

Hi there
you could store them in a damp environment to soften them up - there is also a thread about HM soap somewhere here - someone will be along in a minute - also look at the HM washing liquid - i am sure its made with grated soap - again thread is here somewhere.
Personally i keep the soap ends inside an old pop sock - keep it by the outside tap - good for washing hands in the summertime after gardening.
Hard soap will lather up if you can find a way of softening it - or dampening it

I have a small plastic box that I think I got from either bettaware or Kleeneze years ago, and you just put the slivers in there and when its almost full some warm water and leave it to settle into a new bar.I always use the same soap so it smells the same as a new bar just a slightly different shape.I certainly don't waste any.My late ma-in-law used to save hers up in a jam jar until she had enough to make a new block. I think she would soften them up with a little water in an old saucepan kept specifically for this purpose then put the softenened soap into an old pastry cutter also kept for this purpose.Once hardened she would put in the airing cupboard to dry out.0
