Using up old soap

I just lather up a new bar and stick the little bit onto that. Thought everyone did this0

I wonder if anyone can help. I did a search but could not come up with anything.
How can I make one soap bar out of the slivers of soap bars rather than throw them away when they are down to next to nothing. It may seem penny-pinching to the extreme, but I just wondered if anyone does this or if you could please give me the link if there is another similar thread. Many thanks in advance.0 -
There was a thing on the super scrimpers prgramme where the woman put the odd bits in the bottom and popped it in the microwave for a couple of minutes so it melted together.
Hopefully someone else will know exactly what to do this is just what I remember.Credit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

Melting in the microwave will only work if it is 'glycerine' soap.
I use melt and pour soap to craft new soaps for pressies, and also pour some over the scraps in a mould to re-use them in our bathroom.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
Wrap them in a flannel or use a small net bag (like you get with washing tablets) - you can exfoliate at the same time them

Yes, I put the bits in a net washing tablet bag and suspend it from the tap in the utility room. Ideal for when you (or kids) come in from the garden with really muddy hands because it helps scrub the grime off too.
Otherwise, just grate it and stir in a very small amount of boiling water, stir really well and then wrap it in something like a piece of muslin or old tights and suspend it to drain and dry out. Doesn't make very hard or pretty soap but it's usable.Val.0 -
putting all your pieces together add a little water and mushing them together and putting them in the microwave for one minute, i saw it on superscrimpers the other week, go on the 4od and watch it.Trying to make big cut backs!!!

I always stick the sliver of soap onto a new bar, so it's not wasted.0

if you do an advanced search and put "soap" in the search field and set it to titles only - you will find loads of threads including this one - using up old soap
if you need clearer search instructions just ask
Ill merge this later
