    Brighthouse are good
    Good for who?
Even without their outrageous instalment terms, they are still far more expensive than other suppliers.
    JL. £499

    BH. £573

Then if you want it on instalments over one year it will cost you £804 and spread it over 3 years and you end up paying £1248

Our local Euronics shop is always our first point of call for white goods. May not always be the cheapest, but their customer service is the best.

I also use Euronics. It's a local store, family run, the customer service is second to none

And it's not always the dearest, with free delivery, free removal , and can normally haggle a bit

We wanted to look at and touch a new fryer before we bought it - sometimes they have rough, sharp edges, which we don't find acceptable.

We always go to our local John Lewis first & also look on JL website, as have bought many appliances from them in the past & they are very reliable & give good customer service as well as value for money.

Having not found exactly what we were looking for at JL we went along to our local Currys/PCWorld. Have bought small stuff there before. Same good customer service this time as well.

    would've . . . could've . . . should've . . .

There's definitely no 'a' in 'definitely'.
  • Have never failed to be disappointed by Currys/PCWorld, whatever I try to buy there...

For white goods I would recommend AO.com - I ordered the wrong fridge when we were fitting our kitchen (got awfully confused between built-in and built-under), and they swapped without issue.

But I agree with other posters - I do like to look/fiddle with before I buy, and that's getting harder and harder to do.

I've bought slight seconds via eBay, a simple scratch in an invisible location can halve the retail value.

    Another vote for AO.com

Great prices, reasonably priced speedy delivery, and some of the most helpful delivery people I've very dealt with.
  • I think the big problem here - and I'm with the OP on this one - is that when spending hundreds of pounds on a new appliance, it is infinitely preferable to be able to inspect the product you are considering buying. That way, you can see if the look, feel, size, shape, colour, etc, etc.... are what you require.

The options for doing that nowadays are limited to John Lewis, Currys and the local Euronics shop. Even if ultimately the product is ordered online, the ability to know what you are ordering is invaluable.

I really don't get the whole desire to buy everything these days from a computer screen without seeing it first. Call me old fashioned (I'm mid 30s) but I prefer to try clothes on before buying and look at appliances in the flesh before I part with my cash.

The only things I buy online straight off are services, such as insurance etc, and low value electronics.
