Experian through credit club

I am concerned that Experian now have my personal contact details and home address, what is being done to ensure the data they now have on me and other forum members is deleted?
Money saving expert is a trusted web site as far as I was concerned and is usually transparent about what it does with data and where it's sponsorship comes from, I am now concerned about future loss of data.
I guard as much as I can about my data being shared without my consent as I am in the IT industry and know how data can be spread without the owner's knowledge.0 -
Surely Experian will have your home address etc because they hold a credit file on you - whether you choose to view it or not?0
-
If Experian delete your details, you won't be able to view your credit files through MSE.
This isn't about loss of data - but mis categorisation of data.0 -
Hi all
Just to add to my earlier post...
For those of you who've received this letter about Experian's Credit Expert service. Simply put, you shouldn't have been sent this, so please rip up the letter and bin it (unless you’ve separately joined Credit Expert).
I can assure you that MSE's Credit Club is entirely free to use, you won't be charged for using your account with us.
That’s all you need to know, so stop reading now if you like, but for transparency’s sake we wanted to explain what’s happened a bit further...
Some of the data we need for the MSE Credit Club comes from the UK’s largest credit reference agency, Experian, and you go through its verification process when you sign in.
Sadly a mix up by Experian last week meant an automated letter from CreditExpert was sent to people who logged into Credit Club. That should not have happened.
Experian has apologised for the mistake. It has assured us that your data was never compromised and remains completely safe.
I hope this helps to reassure you - you can continue to use MSE's Credit Club for free.0 -
Not just my husband then?
He also received a letter from Experian this morning. He's only ever accessed his Experian credit report through the MSE credit club.

Some of the data we need for the MSE Credit Club comes from the UK’s largest credit reference agency, Experian, and as you’ll remember you needed to go through its verification process as part of our sign up process.
That verification process uses some of the same elements its own paid for Credit Expert service. Sadly a mix up by Experian last week means that some Credit Club members were wrongly added sent letters. That should not have happened.
Experian has apologised for the mistake, and assured us it's won't hold your details on its Credit Expert system.
I hope this helps to reassure you - you can continue to use MSE's Credit Club for free.
Will Experian be writing to those effected and guaranteeing that.0 -

I've just received no fewer than six (yes 6!) identical letters also saying that Experian Credit Expert free trial is starting and after 30 days I will be billed £14.99, yet I have not signed to Experian Credit Expert, only MSE Credit Club.
On environmental grounds and postage costs alone this must have been a very expensive mistake to make. To be far to MSE they did send me an e-mail at 23:50 on Sunday 14th May warning me about this error, but they didn’t tell me that I would receive six (6) identical letters!
Question to Dan, - Can I safely ignore all six of these letters? In your communication you only advised that there would be only one letter ?0 -
I think you can safely assume that all 6 can be ignored in equal measure.0

Experian has told us that these letters were incorrectly being auto-generated by using your Credit Club account (the verification stage), so if you logged in a couple of times, or the page reloaded then this may have generated the extra letters.
I hope this helps to reassure you.0
