Vauxhall "Service soon" yellow warning light with spanner

It means that a fault code has been logged in the engine management system, probably quite minor and intermittent, given that it has extinguished.
Vauxhall use a two tier system for such error codes, the usual engine management light for mandatory OBD 2 codes and the spanner for Vauxhall specific codes0 -

So do that and get the codes, then someone on here may be able to help.0 -
You should be servicing your car every month to keep it in top condition0

Thanks for the (helpful) replies.
Hard to post as much as I want to, busy with a sick 7 month old boy
Will try and DIY the codes myself, and if it WAS serviced and MOT'ed, then surely the oil level would have been detected?
And, am I within my rights to get the garage to fix/reset the fault for free? Stupidly bought a 3 year extended RAC (boo, hiss!) warranty that came with one years full UK breakdown cover, but that does not cover basic wear and tear, and oil levels etc etc.
We've only had it 3 weeks and already this fault light has come on0 -
Its probably not detecting the level of the oil, but based on the driving over the time it has decided that oil needs replaced. The dealer probably did not clear the counter when it was serviced.0

Hi, tried keeping feet on brake and accelerator then inserting key (but not starting ignition) and...... zero, diddly squat, nothing.
No beeps, no codes, nothing flashed.
Then went for a drive and do a shopfor baby food, got home, dropped off shopping, went back to start car to put away in garage - and yellow warning light came back on.
So, you just think the garage just need to reset the light then?
Thought I could try myself but obviously failed, plus would still like them to look at it tomorrow a.m. and check there's nothing else wrong with it.
Still not happy we've just bought it, paid for the extended warranty and this will still cost us extra to reset some silly light and look up some fault codes with a reader (which I couldn't get to display despite trying using the brake & accelerator combo menthod).

Please don't dismiss this as 'a silly little light'.
Opal/Vauxhall put it there for a purpose.
It may be something trivial - like a reset after servicing or .....
...... it may be something indicative of an impending potential major disaster that could cost a packet if ignored.0
